iPod Touch Review

The iPod Touch has a brand new look with a slew of new features! Kevin Pereira and Alison Haislip review Apple's latest generation of portable media players with its dual cameras, HD video recording and FaceTime capability.

What You Need To Know

  • The iPod Touch is thinner than the new Nano at just under 3/10ths of an inch thick.
  • It weighs an ounce lighter than the iPhone4, so when this thing is in your pocket, you can barely feel it.
  • They've added the same Retina Display that the new iPhone has, so it's the same experience.
  • The Retina Display has an 960x640 resolution and is one of the most beautiful displays you can get on a mobile device.
  • It may not have the contrast ratio that AMOLED screens do, but the detail and clarity is second to none.
  • It also has the same improved interface as the iPhone 4, including multi-tasking and the A4 processor, which makes it much faster than the last iPod.
  • Multi-tasking is also just as fast as you want it to be, so be ready to play a lot of games at once.
  • They've added two cameras: one on the back and one in the front.
  • New features include HD video recording, FaceTime capability and the Game Center, all of which work pretty well.
  • The back camera is about only one mega pixel, so pictures are not the best.
  • There's also no flash but you can record 720p video.
  • We were surprised that Apple didn't give the Touch a better camera since the iPhone's camera is great.
  • FaceTime works exactly like an iPhone 4, which means it's practically seamless.
  • If you want to call someone, just enter their email address and call.
  • Game Center is Apple's answer to multi-player gaming on the iPhone. You can ask friends to play online in certain games, or compare states and achievements.
  • You can even talk to them while you're playing.
  • Once this feature grows, it will be a lot of fun.
  • Audio quality is good but again, you're going to need to buy a better pair of ear buds.

  • 8 GB for $230
  • 32 GB for $300

this should be iphone minus the phone
why you gotta do me like that apple I was finally gonna get an ipod
touch and you cheaped out on the camera, the memory (with is the same as the ipad at 256 MB instead of the iphones 512)and apparently even the screen is slightly inferior to the iphone one
at this point I can't wait for the PSP 2 or 3DS to put you in your place.

Getting mine on Tuesday! Damn shipping, I payed for one day shipping then was told that it doesn't support one day shipping and my money was refunded. It's in Alaska right now, and I live in Florida , so hopefully it will make it here on Monday instead. One of my friends in another state purchased one at the Apple Store and it had a few issues like the screen light leaked through the side and the video recorded with a clicking sound and a few other things. I hope I don't have any of those issues when I get mine, it would be a real hassle to exchange it since the closest Apple Store is 36 miles from me, which is why I ordered it online.

Surprise surprise, AOTS gives an apple product a 5 out of 5 even though they themselves say it's not perfect. I'm sure it's a great product but this review is contradictory and unfair.

Unfortunately, the review is incorrect. The Touch does not have the same IPS LCD as the iPhone 4 but uses a cheaper panel, which just isn't as good as the 4. This is still a nice Touch though, shame about the lower 256Mb RAM (iPhone 4 has 512Mb) and inferior display. I would have bought it if it had the IPS Retina LCD.

Double Apple gadget pron, what a surprise.

Android has dozens of phones, and now tablets not that you could tell by watching G4.

Only one Android phone this week on the pron, Steve Jobs still signing the cheques at G4 then, hey oh.

A 5/5 would be no complaints, you've docked off seals for a poor camera on a phone, wtf?!
