I really enjoyed how the people who explained how free is not really free got hands downs. Well, never-the-less, I am still paying and playing LOTRO. Regardless of this "free to pay" commerical says. Its only free to a point. never-the-less, it is a good MMO. One of the best for PvE. Only if it had some "real" PvP. Monster PvP is not realy PvP guys. Dont get me started... (but I love the game)

I did a little research and of course the best stuff in game is still reserved for subscribers.
You were kidding yourself to think an MMO would go completely free.
ps: thanks for the thumbs down kids, always gives me a kick. -

This game is the best I've ever played. The graphics are killer, new content is always being added, the ppl are friendly and helpful, the crafting is worth doing, and the player verses player is a blast! I would recommend this game to anyone!! It's free, so why not check it out for yourself? Maybe you will like it as much as me & pay for the extra content =) And no, its not a trick, or a marketing scam like WH or Wow. You get to play ur character to level 50, how is that a scam? Speaking of WOW & WH, they are kiddie games comparing to LOTRO. But hey, different strokes for different folks, some like LOTRO, some like other MMO's. As for the AD, it could have been better but I'm sure it's not going to be the only AD Turbine will ever put out. ;) If you liked the Lord Of The Rings movies, then you will definatly like the LOTRO game.

Almost anytime a game goes 'free to play' you usually might as well pay for it anyway. Ask anyone that plays Everquest II seriously. Free accounts are mostly for people that casually play MMOs. They're willing to pay for a product key if it means they'll never have to pay for the game, no matter how limited it is.
That said, this is a pretty decent MMO, especially if you like Lord of the Rings. I enjoyed my demo, which is free, so if you're interested, check that out before forking out the money for a full product key. Personally, I'm holdin out for Old Republic, but aren't we all? -

Yes, I think anyone could consider it a trick.
Now, we have to determine what "free-to-play" means.
Is it just a demo like Warhammer gives?
Can you buy ingame items?
Seriously, someone needs to get a lawyer in here, because if it's some cheat use of the words "free-to-play" we can put em out of business ;) -

Dont be fooled. Its a nice trick to get people to pay more. HA I am still paying though.

not that interested since so many good games are coming out this month

Great game, but the ad really stinks. lol. Maybe next time hire pros. Just a thought.

Just like everquest 2 is not free. Your so restricted in everything you do that you might as well pay,
its another marketing scam. -
poopshootbeatdown
Its not free, it never will be 'Free" like when an Asian mmo says free you can play for free and have the option of buying costumes and such. No turbine wants you to buy character slots/class options zones/raids/dungeons screw that.

I've been playing this game since the beginning, I have a lifetime membership, this is the best mmo ever. Come join us on the Elendilmir server!

This game is very good. I loved the books and I am loving all of the Tolkien lore built into the game. I feel like I am actually in the books sometimes. The graphics are awesome. so far has not been too grindy unless you want to complete all of the deeds to get Turbine points. Very fun overall and it's free. I recommend everyone at least try it. you can get through the first 20 or so levels without paying a dime. after that, you have to use Turbine points to unlock more content. if you do all of the deeds though, you should not have a problem with having enough TPs.

ROFL ROFL!! Yeah right! Turbine wishes there where that many people playing the game LOL!! I tried it once and was bored to death by it and never could go back but i guess this is good news for those who like it....like my 50 year old mother-in-law, as for me ill just stick to the hated wow monster cause i like to have fun when i play an mmo :D

It's a hella good game, there are some things that need to get changed (just like in every mmo) and they seem to get changed rather slowly, but it's still a excellent friggin game.
the graphics are outstanding too. My biggest gripe as a long time player is that RuneKeepers need to be taken out of the game all together and PvMP(player verses monster player) needs more attention from the game developers. -
Lightdral
One of the best MMOs out there, certainly above stale WoW and the one with best gfx and engine

crocodilius
the question is: is this game any good?
-
Sircle
Decent game, but I'll just wait a couple more years for Guild Wars 2.
