I don't know what irked me more, the voice acting or the writing. I do know, however, that those first fifteen minutes have dissuaded me from even renting it to know what happens in the story, and speaking as both a hardcore Metroid fan and a continuity freak/story hound that is saying a lot. I mean you could play it ignoring the whole story, but then the controls seem to be less than intuitive and not nearly as tight as you would like them to be for an action adventure game like this. And if that is the tip of the iceberg I can only imagine how torturous it could get later on, especially when you are near the end.

I kind of like the voice apparently this voice actor was chosen because she does not socialize well with others and that's the kind of voice they wanted to use for samus in this game.

I'm going to be picking it up by this weekend so I'll be able to offer some input soon :D

Sorry fellow feed members. I was just struck down by the Double-post monster. At least I'm more powerful than it can possibly imagine...

The voice is what's really killing it for me. It sounds like nails on a chalk board. It sounds like Kristin Stewart.

The writers of the English dialogue (and lenghthy monologues) shouldn't have attempted to sound poetic. I think that's what's really put a lot of people off. Although, it's probably due to the English writer's attempt to capture the same feel as the Japanese script. The Japanese eat that stuff up, and the style of this game seems to fit that demographic well.

The graphics are very smooth and pleasing to the eye, regardless of hardware limitations. They almost remind me of early 360 games. The gameplay and control looks like it takes a bit of getting used to, but it woudln't be the first time Nintendo has experimented with control.

Overall, I don't think it's nearly as bad as Abbie's review makes it out to be. Just take the acting and the script with a grain of salt, and you'll still have a decent metroid game underneath.

Yeah, the voice has got to go but the game overall doesn't look that bad. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and see what it's like.

new drinking game: Drink every time Samus says "Baby". Drop dead from alcohol poisoning.

In all seriousness though, games looks fine to me - however, they definitely should have gotten a better voice actress for Samus. She delivers her lines so horribly...

I would like Metroid Prime 4 in two years. If not in the Metroid Prime timeline then just let Retro make Metroid: Dread!

Good lord, that's some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. I can't believe they let that pass, especially with a game like Metroid.

Well if anyone finds Metroid Other M interesting they should give it a try. I haven't played the game yet so I'm not going to give an opinion until I do. That's how I truly find out if a game is good or not. Again like I've said before, reviews are opinions. Other websites gave this game a high rating and X-Play gave their rating, but good or bad it's all based on opinion. Reviews are too give you an idea on what you might possibly find within a game but of course if a reviewer chooses to dislike a game then it might just get a low rating but that doesn't always mean that a game is bad. I see people all the time say that if a game doesn't get a 5 out of 5 then it's not worth playing. If one chooses to let a single review that involves someone else's opinion dictate what games they play then that's his/her choice but the only way to know for sure about a game is to play it yourself. I liked the past Metroid games so I will play Other M when I get the chance.

It makes me so sad that such an incredible series has to be subjugated to flawed gameplay mechanics and gameboy advance graphics. I'm sobbing inside.

Awww, the first 3 minutes of the video made me reminisce of how great Super Metroid for the SNES was, they need to revamp that game or something, classic game and one of the best from the Metroid franchise

her voice is creeping me out, am I the only one? Like who talks like that... first she sounds like she talking to herself and i can't comment on that if you talk to yourself in that voice and tone that is cool with me. But then is she trying to talk to US? or recording it like a log. Man is like a mix of bad emotions and bad acting all put into one voice.

Lol on the game play, it seems like you were having some trouble there with the control when you were in first person and changing to the ball. I couldn't stand her voice, i mean if i had to sit through her talking I would rather there be text and i will turn off her voice.

BABY!!! no more trace of BABY on me.... it sounds like Samus wants a baby if I didn't know the back story and if i was just listening to her talk.

I am sure your a experience gamer and it looks like you had a hard time with the controls. And if you had problems then man... i fill sorry for guy less experienced in using the Wii remote..

I bought it today. I am 4 hours in, and I feel like it is save to say I disagree with G4's review. It is not ANYTHING like Metroid Prime one, or Super Metroid. It almost has a Metroid Fusion vibe going on. It isn't the best in the series, but it isn't the worst. Metroid Prime 2 and 3 are the bad ones if you ask me. If you want it, and love Metroid you will at least like this game. Personally, I love it. Sorry for the choppy comment. I am in a rush!

Even from these 15min you can tell the game has "Japanese" written all over it. Bad, bad mistake Nintendo.
