Terrible. Baffling.
This is the first time I have checked out this site, and it will be the last. The lack of credibility is astounding. The review reeks of elitism, and this rebuttal to fan complaints, though they claim it is not, is incredibly unprofessional.
I guess like most other sites they re just looking for more clicks and care little for integrity. Many others have played this game and have seen it as above average. Do these guys have a different build, or are they just trying to stir controversy?
They say be glad someone else on the team didn t review it? Why? Would they give it a 1? You don t care what your peers think? I look to these types of sites for help on purchasing a game. I m not looking for a narrative or hidden agenda. These scores should not be trusted.

I actually kind of applaud Nintendo/Team Ninja/Whoever for making this game. They took a chance, and changed stuff up a bit. Some game series (Zelda, I love you a lot, but I'm looking at you) seem to be somewhat the same thing over and over. So sometimes, changing it up a bit is good. Now it may not have worked (or maybe it did--I haven't played the game) but it's good for the series as a whole. When whoever is making the next game comes along, they'll look back on this game and say "Alright, we changed some things in Other M, what worked, and what didn't?"
Now for another note, I have to say, let people have their own opinions. Abbie did not like this game. Alright then. Some other reviewing sites may have liked it/thought it was decent. Alright. But does it really deserve all the bashing in the comments that it does? Sure, you guys may not agree with her, and think the whole change from a more asexual Samus to a more emotional Samus to be a good thing. But there isn't any reason to denounce her. I mean, who cares? It's just a game. Sure, they're fun to play and we get annoyed when a bad one comes along that was supposed to be extremely good, but there'll be better ones in the future.
Metroid will probably have another really good game sometime down the road. Even if you thought the game was really good, or really bad, or somewhere in between, there will be more Metroid games coming down the line. Maybe they will be good, maybe not. We'll just have to see ;-)

I respect you all for getting behind your colleague but at the same time i don't respect you for OBVIOUSLY not having your own opinion on the game. Of course you are all going to agree with her, since when don't nerd kiss ass to good looking chick erm woman. ha i kid i kid, but seriously how am I to take a site seriously when they award a game like Modern Warfare to a perfect score. Sorry, but when you have gripes with a game you are supposed to rate it accordingly. It seems Abbie, that you got angry and just went from there especially when so many other reviews out there praise the game.

No surprise there. They hasn't been a good metroid game since Super Metorid on SNES, or MAYBE Metroid Fusion. And to think....I was going to buy a Wii for this. Safe!

So it comes down to this do you like metroid prime 3 motion controls(which dont work very well)
or do you like a controller which if you play metroid prime 1 and 2 know works alot better i will always favor a controller over motion because moving around is not gaming pressing buttons will always be gaming

I can't really comment on the score or on how Abbie reviewed the game in her written review (read it) but I would have liked her to answer if she thinks that this game is better suited for a first time player of the Metroid series. I've never played it (none of the Metroid games) but I want to play Other M even more now, after reading this review and listening to this talk about. I also want to add, I just find it interesting that some of you are complaining that this score is unfair when a majority of you on here say that Most Nintendo games suck.

One more thing, about the manga. It starts off at some random time in the future after the first game and Samus is still being bothered about all the stuff in the past. Basically that's what the whole manga is, is Samus remembering all the stuff that led up to the first confrontation with Mother Brain.
It's pretty obvious at that point that she was not over all of it. I mean c'mon there's always something in everyone's life that's rather hard to let go of, I know I got a few. Nintendo even did say it was going to explore some of her past...oh gee, after a climactic event that leaves her rather depressed we're going to look at her past?
Tbh, I'd expect to see Samus at some point in time cry in the game, I mean damn...I'd have killed myself going through all of that.
From the other stand point of this being a game....I really couldn't say if I'm over-reacting or if the reviewers did. I'm just going from the view as if Samus was a real person, which obviously she's not.
Also, I come now to the game itself again. It is a new idea, unfortunately people do tend to deviate from new ideas because change is a big thing. After playing the Prime Trilogy 2/3 times over I can safely say it was good. It was nice to play as Samus in a 3d environment rather then strange space stations that require all the scientists to jump 30 feet to get to the bathroom(lol). The 2d games have gotten rather strange to me recently though, I don't feel like I'm quite enjoying them as much. Don't get me wrong Fusion/Zero Mission are some of my favorite games...but it is getting old. Prime ended just right where it wasn't stale and still felt good.
For other games I can't really say the same, I loved Halo1 and 2. Didn't care for ODST. I played Halo so much it made me tired of fpses. From my point of view at the moment, it just seems that people are too scared of something new, but with good reason...most new ideas are scrapped because everyone seems to hate them unless they're spot on. So maybe Other M had some mistakes like that, then again it may be to Gaiden like for my tastes to. But it definitely is something new I'd like to try.

It seems like Nintendo and Team Ninja don't like older protagonists, considering they decided to go with a much younger Samus than the story's chronology called for. Maybe they don't believe that grown women (or anyone out of high school for that matter) are fit to save the day anymore (except for Mario, of course).

Wow, that's pretty bad to hear. I'm not the biggest fan of Metroid, but I have played a lot of the games. Sad thing about this, is that the review and Talkabout makes me want to play and test the game for myself more to see all this for myself. Unfortunately Nintendo, internet and playable demos for the Wii, aren't the best of friends. In fact it almost rivals Abby's love (not) for this game.

It'll be interesting to see how this game will be recieved in Japan with its seemingly silly design choices because it obviously wasn't created with western audiences in mind. Either way this game has seemed like a pass from the get go

Hm, strange. Am I the only person who when I thought about how Samus reacts to situations she's not just like "Meh, Kraid easy" "Draygon? No problem" "Ridley, oh that guy who killed my parents, pff pansy" "Oh hey Mother Brain nice meeting you I, WOAH HOLY CRAP OW, man that hurts, ok now die"
Idk, I kind of picture Samus as being rather afraid of a building sized dinosaur...as a matter of fact, I have read the Manga. What's significant about this? She was rather scared of Kraid the first time she fought him, oh and lets not forget she kinda passes out after the fight. She is still human, she's not actually a cyborg with unlimited badass power.
Does this make me hate the character? No. It just shows that she's not some super ultra, take on anything, BADASS that doesn't care about anything ever but killing...
I'm not bashing Abbie at all, I can respect any review. I'm just giving my two cents about metroid. It's not like Samus would someday kill her babysitter (Mother Brain for those who didn't read the manga), watch her adoptive baby metroid die right in front of her, and on top of that watch her home planet freaking explode on the way out and just go, "Eh, seen it."
But to be honest about the gameplay, not too sure right now about controls yet I thought the concentration thing was like a last ditch effort thing, THAT does kind of bother me.
Not many people will read this I'm sure. But really? Who am I? Just a guy throwing out his opinion/any knowledge I got at this point.
I'm still going to get the game and see what I think about it.

Like, what the hell happened to G4 in the past 4 years. This whole video is embarrassing. We are complaining about sexism, SEXISM in a videogame? Like the bald space marine games we've been playing for the past 10 years? This whole video shows the absolute vulnerability of WOMEN, yes, it does. And this is part of the rating scheme? From Morgans WTF rants to this just blows my mind how G4 sucking. My favorite show (X-Play)is seen as crap now. Does no one on this whole damn team have a differing opinion and would review a game how its supposed to be reviewed. This lady is too emotionally obtuse to be reviewing this game. I swear to God that guy in the video (actually all the men in the office; he actually looks like he is having fun with watching her go on her stupid sexism rant) wouldnt even think of sexism if it wasnt for this abbie girl (I'm sure most of the men in the office are thinking that this is just stupid but they will just let her voice her opinion because they don't want to have any trouble). This review is the outlier one anyways and will be ignored by almost everyone who wants to play the game to actually know how the gameplay (yes, what the game is supposed to be reviewed on and not by how sexist you think it is) is. Wow, this just blew my mind lol. I need to go read the G4 Resident Evil review and see if anyone brings up anything racist about it...
