3D gaming is on the go with the AVADirect Clevo laptop bundled with NVIDIA's 3D vision kit, a GTX 285M graphics card and 4 gigs of RAM. Kevin Pereira and Morgan Webb review the 3D gaming laptop that starts at $1,750.

What You Need to Know

  • The laptop is about 1.5” thick
  • It’s kind of heavy at just over 7 lbs.
  • The keyboard is widely spaced, so you can get your fingers on the W,A,S and D keys with no problem
  • The spot where your wrist rests doesn't interfere with the touch-pad, or get unnecessarily hot
  • The touchpad is multi-touch and gesture-enabled, but it doesn't work as well as it should; you'll probably be using a gaming mouse anyway
  • Overall, it'll be easy to play for a long time on this machine
  • In addition to its high-end gaming components, it's ready to play games in 3D out of the box (you get the 120 Hz LCD and NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit)
  • The 3DMark Vantage benchmarks make this laptop the third fastest we've ever tested (it just barely scored lower than ASUS and Origin)
  • Of course, games look great, because gaming in 3D on this laptop has very little cross-talk (ghosting), and is just generally a better experience than watching a 3D TV
  • It's an all around solid PC with great performance, and we recommend it if you wanna buy a 3D gaming laptop

    Re: RST79,

The Clevo can be configured with 8GB of DDR3 for around $1950.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

It would be nice to know what the dif between the base price and the one they are reviewing is. I'm hearing 4G of RAM on the one they review, whereas the ASUS ROG is 8G DDR3 at around $1700.
