Go Abbie on your support against Activision if they enact a membership fee. I 100% agree that a boycott would be necessary to defeat the membership if that said membership actually happens.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm an Xbox fan boy, since that first moment that my neighbour let me borrow his to play Halo Combat Evolved on New Years Eve.
I'm hesitant to make a judgement call right now about the Kinect for a couple of reason.
    1) So far only 6 (I'm trying to do the count in my head but I can't remember all of them) have been talked about for the Kinect and Microsoft said at E3 that there will be 15 game available for Kinect on November 4th. I have a feeling they are saving the best for last as there still is 3 months till launch.
    2) There were A LOT of neigh says for the Wii, including myself (I by the way now own one) yet they were able to define a whole new genre within the gaming industry which was pitifully small before (casual gaming). The only reason Microsoft and Sony are now coming out with these add ons is because Wii proved it profitable.

The final point I want to mention is about the new 4GB Xbox Slim. All its going to do is replace the Arcade version which already exist. Since the start Microsoft has always had at least two versions of the Xbox and the arcade version (which someone must have bought) also didn't come with a had drive and only 256mb.

the subscription payment thing all started really with xbox live. If people would have just said they would by for that, then payment for multiplayer would never have come up. If a billion dollar company can't cover overhead with product anyway, then that is just a business I don't want my money going to anyway, which makes me happy to have my Wii and DS.

Here's my two-cents about the Activision pay-to-play model.

It will probably work. Maybe not as well as Kotick is dreaming of, but it will be a successful strategy if they employ it carefully. The key barrier to creating an effective pay-to-play strategy is that you must have a strong IP that carries a lot of clout amongst not only the gaming community, but the gaming press and eager marketing departments (interior or exterior). Take Call of Duty for an example. Currently, there is no more powerful name in the first-person shooter sub-genre of video games. If you take care to properly market future Call of Duty titles to the right audience, and you keep the quality on the product at a suitable or better level, then you can make the audience pay for almost anything. As the music and movie industry have continued to show, marketing and publicity (and high budgets) trump innovation and quality. The video game industry could adopt a similar model.

This also relates to the current state of the economy and video game industry at large. Because the current video game industry is so dominated by several large publishers (EA, Activision, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and Ubisoft), the finances needed to create a suitable and viable alternative product is nearly impossible to raise outside of those publishers. And while it is not legal, collusion between large corporations to raise financial revenue for all involved is far from a rarity. You (Feedback crew) talk about Respawn Entertainment marketing a game to counter a potential pay-to-play Infinity Ward or Treyarch title, but if Activision can prove that people will pay-to-play, then why exactly would EA let Respawn ignore that revenue stream? Corporations, at their core, are interested in what advances their stockholders' interest, not what advances the gaming public's interests, so what's to stop such a thing?

I rue the day that this model comes to fruition, but let's be honest. Unless the average consumer becomes more knowledgeable and more willing to take chances on new IPs, this model will be a part of the video game industry's future.

I dont think the subscrption will work. Not on all systems atleast. Think about Champions and all the othe MMO's that were supposed to be on the Xbox but were put on hold because of dissagrements. I dont think that Microsft wants to share all that money they make off of us.

I'm not sure why they think a subscription for console games will work. As you guys mentioned, most people are already paying for Xbox Live and adding another monthly fee on top of that turns people off. I can kind of see where Activision is coming from with WoW's income and wanting to put that elsewhere, but trying to plan a console's income based on the biggest MMO is insane. Other MMOs can't get near that amount of subscriptions and are finding that a F2P model with an item shop is working better. That's somewhat equivalent to the DLC, but I doubt asking a console developer to constantly be creating new items and content for something like CoD that would keep people buying stuff while not really adding anything to the game will work.

first i love microsoft and the 360, i have been excited for kinect since we first heard of it what about a year and a half ago. Now its just seems lackluster, nothing the promised last year is there this year, were is the scanning in items, the video chats were you can drag and drop items, even the netflix browsing seeemed lame this year as opposed to last year. I might get it and that saying alot being that the day the 36 released i got every single accesory and most of the games that launched with it and then bought the Elite the day it released also. Second with the pay to play service that Activision seems to want to try and implement, all we have to do as a community of gamers is take a stand and refuse, society as a whole now a days just seems fine to roll over and accept things that happen even if we do not agree with it. Enough is enough!!! if you believe in something than stand up for it, if we do not then we will let all these companies just do as they will at our expense. is it not enough that Modern Warfare charged $15 for their map packs and that worked out fine for them so guess what not only will activision keep implementing this to their games but now other companies will impliment this as well. Third OMFG!!!!!!!!!!! Abbie is super sexy when she is mad and swearing :) keep it up abbie. P.S.- where is Patrick????????:( i dont feel fullfilled with my Feedback unless Adam, Abbie and Patrick are present. its extra fulfilling if morgan is present also, i love how Morgan hates on the kiddie games cuz its true there ok but majority of us are not kids so were not as easily impressed

Well I'm sad now no Patrick on G4? But Um I couldn't help my self I shout literally out loud "get 'em Abbie, you tell them!." Yeah If the Gaming violence thing comes to pass (I'll just refer to it as that) and the online subscription fees for a component (a broken component if you're referring to MW2's online) would make the industry and the community implode. Because it's the principle, for us gamers and consumers we know what we should be charged for and we know that we shouldn't be charged twice or monthly for a project that is already 60 bucks, SIXTY BUCKS for admission. That is purely greed bs (DLC for the most part is acceptable); the same with gaming bill thingy an, M-rated game shouldn't be placed behind a counter and hidden as if it were a hardcore porn video. Some parents think just because it's a game that it's all ages appropriate and if anything that train of thought needs to be broken Grand Theft Auto isn't equivalent to Dora the Explorer.

On a lighter note, through all of the Greed and Politics and business ideas that could send the industry into complete anarchy. COMIC-CON Yay! Although I've always heard that there are barely comics there and that made me... mad, in a sense cause to me it defeats the purpose of calling a convention Comic-Con if the comics are forgotten.
