It seems to me that a lot of the Playstation Plus talk overlooked the main reason to get the service, free & discounted content. As I said in the PS+/Hulu+ topic earlier today, what Sony is offering is the truest definition of a Premium service which is access to games, themes, avatars, and discounts that people may or may not want. It's ultimately a choice for each individual consumer to make not something that is required in order to play games with your friends.

It's downright irrational to say, "Well they already have free multiplayer so F-that." If anything that's part of the incentive for new gamers to get behind Sony. Hell from a business stand point it's why companies like EA are offering platform exclusive "Collector's Editions" to the PS3 because they know to a new consumer just getting into the console gaming market what the PS3 offers on the surface, Blu-Ray, Multi-Media, until very recently free WiFi, and free multiplayer makes it more enticing.

While I wholeheartedly agree that Sony is "late to the party" and does have to play catch up in terms of their on-line services I just can't see the logic of saying they are screwed for giving something to gamers for free. Multiplayer functionality used to be a given and the fact that Microsoft is forcing people to pay for it really only works to dissuade possible new gamers. I know when I just got into this generation last year it certainly was one of the reasons that discouraged me.

Good show as usual. I want to comment on the PSN+ program. I understand that it is natural for us to compare it to Live considering that for many, surely including Sony, this is the answer to the Live service. Yet I never saw it as a direct answer. Like someone above stated, Live is kinda' like Costco. To gain access to the full content you have to be a paying member. Sure you can go to Walmart or Target but you pay Costco to buy in bulks and to get special offers at times.

PSN+ to me is like a weird gamefly or gametap experiment. If anything PSN+ is a rental services that doesn't really let you choose the game you wanna rent. You get a game to "rent" each month, whether good or bad, and you get to keep it as long as you want with no late fees and without having to send it back in a prepaid envelope when you are done. Instead you don't touch it or delete it, or wait until your rental membership expires. And then you get discounts on games and items which is like getting old or used games at a cheaper price.

Either way, I find it hard to pay for either service. With Live it's simply a matter of me not having time to devote time to to consoles already owning a PS3. With Plus, well, I don't rent games any more.

Why are they comparing XBL ( a service required to play online) to PS+ (a service NOT required to play online) It is optional if you don't like it don't buy in contrast to it being a requirement to even fully enjoy your 360

Transformers are cool. Gundams are alright. I'm really hoping for the nonexistent Zoids game that takes what Battle Legends did and upgrades it both game play and graphics-wise for the newer consoles.

Its too bad that the gaming community at large doesn't have the ability to hold studios or publishers accountable for their idiotic choices. I was furious about the Modern Warfare 2 for PC changes but I was absolutely helpless in doing anything. I posted on their forums as much as I could, I emailed the main people at Infinity Ward/Activision. Absolutely no help. And what is the loss of $60 in a sea of console users who keep their ship afloat? And thats also something that pisses me off. How much publishers/studios have decided to milk us PC gamers. Games used to cost $49.99 USD! Map packs used to be free! I just feel like PC users are getting treated like we are not here anymore. We are an afterthought, or rather the red-headed stepchild in this console family. I don't know why PC deserves getting crap slung at us from console's side of things. I wish our games weren't just horrible console ports. PC gaming has such a legacy, why it deserves to get treated like a second rate platform now is greed. Plain greed. God I feel like an angry old man who's world is changing around him. Too bad its changing for the worse in my case.

Who knew that Beyond Good and Evil 2 would have a longer production time than Alan Wake.

Think of Playstation Plus as a supermarket shoppers card, you get discounts on various items that regular users wouldn't get, alongside the free games and betas. Great feedback as always, and Patrick is actually tolerable when he's in Adam's chair.
