I think this list is a big bone being thrown to the 360 in order to keep things interesting (I have no problem with ME2 winning BTW)
Also, where's Darksiders, Bayonetta, Tatsunoku vs Capcom, and 3D dot Game Heroes?

wow, i got worried there for a minute when they didn't mention mass effect 2 for a while. totally deserves the top spot. I'm surprised that they didn't mention all the great DLC that's been coming out for ME2. Honestly, it's everything a game should be, addicting, intriguing, and all around full of awesomeness. :)

ME2 deserves the number 1 spot by all means. In a lot of ways RDR is flawed because is not an rpg, or at least, with the awesome characters and world in RDR I felt a bit frustated I couldn't say or decide whatever I wanted. In ME2 you are in complete control pretty much all of the time, and you just know, everything you decide here is going to have its consequences on the third installment of the series. Now that is awesome, and just by that deserves to be at number 1.

Yes ME 2! This makes me want to play through it again.
Shiztacular
I really wanted RDR at the top. But I can't complain with Mass Effect. Awesome for gamers they both came out at the same year, but it sucks that they both can't win #1 :(

I thought Heavy Rain would be a tad higher...

I have played almost all of those games. Two that where missing Bayonetta and BFBC2, but! its a multiplayer game which critics don't normally like so I expected it.
But yea ME2 best game I have ever played, it almost was as amazing as a kid seeing duke nukem 3d and the strippers I was blown away by that game.

I'd say that's all fairly agreeable.

I totally agree with mass effect 2 claiming the top spot! not just for best game of the year so far eithe! I am going to come right out and say it... ME2 is my favorite game of all time! Im not a "fanboy" I truly wish there was NO exclusive titles! I would love PS3 owners to get to play this epic sprawling beautiful game/peice of art! After ME2 is God of War 3, then I have to say Heavy Rain. Red Dead, I loved spinter cell! I know it wasnt the greatest game or even the greatest splinter cell but its deffinitly in the top 10 of the first half of the year! Alan Wake should have been the best game of the year... in 07!bata bum tsssss. But thank you for making Mass Effect # 1 it deserves it and bioware is the BEST DEVELOPER OUT THERE right now! and just wait for the old republic!!!!!!

pokemon!...wow...that's surprising!

I still have a few games to catch up on (ME2 for one). Still it's a strong list though I would argue that Bayonetta certainly deserves a spot in the top 10. It's one of the best action games ever, let alone this year, with fluid combat that's as fun to play as it is crazy.
God of War 3 still feels more like a brand loyalty issue in place of actual gameplay substance. Then again after completing the first one I had no desire to ever again revisit the series. Far too repetitive, boring, and buggy for my taste. It still stands as the only game I beat out of pure spite (then traded it back in, something I never do).

No Metal Gear :(
Although they did review it like a few weeks ago, so it might of not been fair. If I did the list, I probably would of put it at the 5 or 4ish area.
And Bad Company? If the list was of 20, it probably would be like 11 or 12.

i don't like lists. i can't justify saying that one is better in than another because each one holds a special position in my heart.

Red Dead is amazing, dont get me wrong, but that BS ending put it under Super Mario Galaxy or God of War IMO.

So, Deadly Premonition makes the list but Bayonetta is nowhere to be found? Oh yea, everyone's too busy sucking Krato's wang as he stars in the same exact game 3 times in a row with just a new coat of paint.
