G4FBers - MS "Kinect" is a play on Kinematics - the specialized name for the area of physics that involves with things moving and of course the word 'connnect'. I got it right off the bat, but that might have ALOT to do with the college classes I had to take to get my Engineering degree. Before then, I didn't even know of the word :).

Loved the show. Didn't have any problems with audio or video (unless it's been fixed since Wednesday).

Frankly I'm more confused about the industry after watching the show. The group seemed pretty sure about the greatness/stupidity of a particular topic only to flip-flop later.

Is 3D only good on the 3DS or does it work for the big screen but ONLY for sports and racing games? Is Kinect truly the future of gaming or is it ONLY good for voice recognition commands? And if voice recognition is the be-all, end-all of interactivity with a console then why can't Sony do the same with the PS Eye since it too has voice recognition?

I actually thought Move was a better solution than Kinect but I have less confidence in Move after this show and for good reason. If it makes you slower on shooters then yes, it's a waste of time and I do agree that I don't recall seeing a killer app makes it stand out as more than just an HD Wii. The same can be said for Kinect (hmm, Kin One, Kin Two, Kinect; take the first letter from each and...).

I think the health of our industry is in trouble. Kinect could force developers to stop spending tens of millions of dollars to make impressive games like Black Ops, which costs millions to produce, and instead making a virtual petting zoo that costs 1/4 of what they'd normally spend with a much bigger ROI. I think Sony's handheld division is completely screwed unless they make the next PSP a phone to truly compete with the iPhone. They won't the war with just better graphics because the 3DS looks better than the PSP at this point AND it has 3D.

A somewhat confusing show but always great and intelligent commentary.

PLEASE! STOP PUTTING STERLING ON THIS PODCAST. Every time he opens his mouth, he is talking about himself. He LOVES the sound of his own voice and frankly, I don't.

    @ Patrick

I'm just letting you know that PlayStation 3 already has background downloads. With PlayStation Plus you get automatic downloads. I don't know if you were thinking automatic, and just saying background, or if you didn't actually know that it was different, but I will clarify just in case.

You do already get background downloads with PS3. But automatic downloads are when you set a time for your PS3 to download, and it wakes up (from standby mode) to download any system software, as well as patches for any game you have a save file for on your PS3, downloads them, and shuts itself back off. The PS3 then notifies you, the next time you turn it on, what it downloaded.

It doesn't really justify the price tag, but they are two very different things. I just wanted to point that out.

I am actually kind of excited for PlayStation Plus, because of the fact that it looks like I can get my moneys worth in the first month with the sales on PS Store games alone. Plus the fact that I get early access to betas and demos, free avatars and themes, and whatever other exclusive offers they want to throw at me. Automatic downloads is also a pretty big plus for me.

I liked the show it was a good one. But really, no Twisted Metal talk. Come on now, that game was for my friends and me the game of the 90's. I think the new TM looks f'n awesome.

I wish Morgan Webb was on this episode of Feedback. She's the only one who isn't in love with Nintendo.

I personally don't understand all the Nintendo love. Everyone I know could care less about the 3DS and the other new Nintendo stuff. And they're very excited for Kinect.

Geez, I can't believe the first 60-70 comments were about the audio. >_>

ANYWAY, this Feedback was, unsurprisingly, awesome, as always.

I had never planned on buying Move or Kinect (don't own a 360) but after hearing everyone's opinions I think it pretty much pounded that last nail into the motion control coffin for me. The only use I would want to get out of these devices is what Abbie was saying about how the Kinect could be used as a way to quickly go through the console interface to send messages, invites, etc. to others without having to go to this separate menu and essentially pausing the game. It's funny; I had this idea in my head for the longest time that Kinect would blow PlayStation's Move out of the water, and it still might, but it looks like it might take some time, what with seeing everyone's reaction to it on Feedback.

Maybe it's just me but I'm not real excited about all this new hardware coming out. Granted I haven't played any games with Move, Kinect, 3DS, but I feel like I'm just starting to expand my PS3 library. I don't buy many new games, mainly due to financial issues, and I feel like I'm just starting to really expand my game library. And with another Nintendo hand held coming out are consumers going to be willing to pay for yet another DS? I don't play my DS too much anymore but Nintendo is already working on their 5th iteration of this hardware. Can't they just take a break and let people buy some more games before they release another piece of hardware?

Guys 3DTV will be glasses even nintendo admit this..

thew Wii2 will use Glasses as the controller... im confident of this

Nintendo have already come out and said that the next home nintendo console will be only when 30% of people have 3DTV (this could be 5+ years easy).....

would you be happy with the 3DS and Wii as nintendos 2 devices for the next 5 years? if after this time we get some amazing nintendo 3D home console with new glasses that act as wiimote hahaha
