That virtual easter egg hunt idea Mr. Sessler was talking already exist with games like Invizamals for the PSP. You have to use the PSP Camera and go around looking for monsters. Its out in the UK but hasn`t come to the US yet.

I believe the 3DS got a good jump start after Johnny Lee introduced his Wii Remote Hacks to Nintendo and showed them what it could do back in 2008.

Problem with 3D is it is too low tech and they just want to jump to everything being 3D that it wont work. The 3DS is a great step though, since until 3D is universally glassessless, it will always be gimmicky and not worth it. Also just having things come at you and forcing movies to angle themselves FOR 3D ruins it.

With any hope 3D gaming will end with this generation, the Big 3 should go the way of vuzix, virtual. Imagine seeing through the eye of the character you're playing - Fallout 4 and such

while i agree with adam i have to disagree as well i am still scared to death of this 3D crap making games turn bad i hate 3D i get sick when i watch 3D stuff i will never watch 3D stuff but i am giving this DS a chance because its a bit different no glasses but another thing is i believe we should have a choice to use 3D or not im sure those who have seizures will have a problem with 3D as well i just think people are pushing 3D on people to much without thinking about those it will be a problem for such as people who wear glasses, people with seizures, and people who have outher eye or brain trouble people are only seeing money not facts but ill give the DS a try <3 plus i don't wanna give up on nintendo just yet im still there big fan but there making me worried and sony is to i hate microsoft so i don't care if they screw up in fact they will be doing me a favor : ) down with lamebox

#1 reason that the 3DS is more understanding and better than 3D consoles, $3000 for a TV to play like a few good games while the 3DS, I can carry around everywhere for the price, maybe exceeding $200, still a lot but better than a TV let alone consoles and games and that stuff

This is a perfect example of why I love the Soapbox. It just feels like you get to connect with Sess on a level you can't through watching X-Play. I feel that while watching X-Play, I get a ton of information and guidance in the video game world. Soapbox makes me feel like Sess is experiencing the same world I am, not just dictating law of Good, Bad, and Meh. For example, the whole "I was afraid of 3-D, now I'm not" thing was pretty easy to relate to. Gah, I'm just rambling now.

Great Soapbox, go get some rest.

Adam, I know every once in a while you read these so I hope you see this. Anyways, I have finally started reading the books you recommended way back last year in your book club. Well, I've only read one so far, but I took your word for it. I am just finishing The Sun Also Rises by Hemmingway. Holy crap, THANK YOU, for recommending the book. It has easily become one of my top 5 favorite books of all time. The characters are so well defined and really eerie about how dead on they are to people that I know and things I have gone through. Granted none of it has been in Pamplona and I didn't become impotent because of a war, but the actions were very similar. I do have a question I feel like asking, mainly because I do not know anyone else who has read the book, but do you think that every man is either a Cohn, a Jake, or that they are both just the duel aspects of man? I ask just because they seem to be opposites while at the same time just being a slight variation of the other. Sorry for SPOILERS They are both in love with Brett, but Cohn is the stalkerish one who can't realize that sometimes nothing is there despite the intimate moments, while Jake who is also in love with Brett more or less goes with the flow and does not bother with what he can not have. Thanks for the recommendation on the books and keep up the good work. I love Sessler's Soapbox and it provides a little bright spot in my week no matter if I agree or disagree with you.

i think the tech behidn the 3ds could be the screens maybe its double layed because if ti can't make depth perspectives y not make the screen layered sincemost ppl project 3d on a flat plane or just one picture on top anotherits still flat

3D on a handheld system somehow seems more appealing than on a console. Sort of reminds me of the 3D Viewmaster with the slides I used to have as a kid.

The 3DS warmed the WHAT of Sess's heart? Hee Hee. You pervs!

I love 3D but I'm also reluctant because if you go out and buy a 3D TV which uses the glasses and something better comes along...well you just wasted $2500.

The 3D technology used in the 3DS has been used in TV's...and if it gets better, then glasses-based 3D will be gone. Right now the 3D without glasses technology is pretty bad. You have to be sitting right in front of the TV and it's still not as good as the glasses, but the question is: WILL it get better? Will you be able to watch at different angles?

I'd love to run out right now and buy a 3D TV, especially with Killzone 3, Ghost Recon, and Crysis 2 all using 3D in the next few months - but I don't want to waste money knowing that a better type of 3D TV is going to come out next year.

Adam was still looking haggard as of Tuesday. Aside from being funny, it's things like that which endear certain tv personalities to me. including several on G4. It's not TV-perfect; it feels real. And it makes me feel a little piece of the E3 drain. Better than 3D. Now go take a nap.
I have a lot of feelings on the games and entertainment industry's push for 3D, motion control and other new tech. But I won't bother expounding on my views because it seems that Sess has done it for me. More or less. Glad to know that someone closer to the industry, with a more public forum shares many of the same doubts as well as hopeful questions about where the tech will go in the future. I'm not easily won-over by media personalities. But more and more I'm coming to respect Adam's opinions and insight.
