this game is awesome, just sad I can't put mah marios on my 360. I'm sorry it was a greedy dream. still awesome and I agree with you mr. sess. wii controls are quite frustrating, need a controller.
I totally agree with Adam about the precision of the Wii controller. I also wish there was another controller option to play with. And it was really hard to take my eyes off Mario behind Adam.
I want more platformers for the PS3! Ratchet doesn't count, and LBP's physics were annoying.
the thing is he says the game is hard there you are wrong I dont know about you but for me the game was extremely easy i beat the whole game in 25h 21m 09s that is my total play time of the whole game the 242 stars and 49 comet medals.
100+ points to Adam for the Sly Cooper reference! I love me some Sly Cooper 1, 2, & 3! I wish they'd make another Sly Cooper game for the PS3!
there's no point in having a lives system. it's not "retro", just obsolete.
I've really enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy 2 so far (sitting at 67 stars right now), but I will say this. The variety of levels are excellent, but I miss the overworld design from the first Super Mario Galaxy. It made the experience seem more personal and well, warm, than the rather plain progression system that this one uses. Small gripe, but that's really all I can say.
I grew up with Mario games so it does warm my heart to hear they are still making very good Mario games. That said I find myself very hard pressed to want to play Mario Galaxy 2 at all and it is because of what Mr. Sessler pointed out. I do not like the Nintendo Wii's controller and it is not cause I did not give it a chance. I have on many occasions played the Wii and the controller did not feel good in my hands and did not provide me with the feeling that I was precisely affecting the action I was doing on screen and in games, like Mario Kart for the Wii, I felt like I had to fight the controls to do the actions I wanted to do and I would always wish for another type of controller. I know they do offer other controllers but that defeats the whole concept of the Wii. The Wii promised a whole new way to play games and I feel it has failed on that front.
well if you have patience and great skill yu can beat this game, heck i beat it in a week green stars n' all
I love mario galaxy 2 but I hate the Wiimote. If I play for more then an hour it kills my wristes.
SMG2 was great now all we need is a True THREEQUEL to Banjo KAzooie.
wow the person playing in the background sucks all you have to do to defeat the drill boss is just keep drilling and run in circles, also dont wait for the drill torpedoes to come to you just drill through at the same time they are. oh yeah and this game is freaking awesome
I completely agree with all your points in this Soapbox. An additional problem I had , though, was with the controls on some of the smaller planets. Let's say you're on one of those small, 2D planets, and you're on the bottom of the planet and want to move counter-clockwise, you'd initially start holding right on the joystick. But then at some certain point, right starts meaning down (clockwise) and you'll begin running down. So then you hold left, but then you may continue running down (clockwise). Little instances like that, while few and far between, broke up the experience for me. Luckily, outside of some control/camera quirks, the rest of the game was amazing
i definitely agree: the whole lives system doesn't make sense anymore. a "game over" now only means that you have to start at the beginning of the level instead of a checkpoint, which isn't really a big threat. it just sucks to see that number going down on tough sequences. plus, lives are so easy to come by that there is very little danger actually failing. the only reason it's still around is because its a classic device, and i get that, but its about time to lay it to rest.
Sessler, you put the bit about having a pro controller option for the wii perfectly!+10 internets to you.
Who doesn't love Mario?
If you have a wii and don't have this game u must go out and get it. Some of the stuff in this game blew my mind!
isn't the precision thing just wii motion plus? or do you mean a smiliar thing for the nunchuck?
