I know I'm very late to this review but I finally picked up Alan Wake at my local Gamestop and too be honest I wished I picked it up sooner. I will be bold to say that Alan Wake is one of the most Underrated games. I agree with some of what the reviewer said, controls are a bit clunky he doesn't really know how to jump well but I would of focused on Alan's running abilities first as the man is and was definitely not a track star. Running moments in this game are short lived just like his stamina so chances are you will have to face every TAKEN (name of the monsters in the game) in some fashion.
However that's nit picking, just like it's nit picking to say one of the cons is an achievement based around collection of items. Every game has this achievement if not then has an even worse achievement to match,
Alan wake is based heavily around it's story which flows nicely through his manuscript pages you have to collect. Also that's one of the achievements. This does add to the story as it also tells the story which I believe is very innovative on it's part. Also the whole combat system is based around shining light on the taken so their protective shield of darkness is depleted and they're now open for blows from your weapon of choice.

I just realized I'm writing my own review of this game my apologizes!!! Um...to sum it up great game :D

Just beat this game...it creeped me out and I don't even understand the story! :( It's like a really good movie that leaves you like "Wut?"

I just don't know about this game myself...I'm no action monger but this just doesn't seem to have anything more than a compelling story...I can clearly see there is action but Adam himself said there are moments when you're running for your life. If that's the case then I'll just go watch a movie instead of spending my time running away from enemies just to see the next cutscene or interesting in-game moment. I for one will be adding this to the gameQ (Gamefly for those of you that don't know) instead of spending another $64 this week (picked up RDR already this week).

This game looks cool but RDR will be a better game and I'm sure a lot longer.

Did Adam say that he was a brownie? Those are girl scouts, Adam. Is there something he isn't telling us? Maybe Abby or Morgan wrote the review for him lol.
