Canon PowerShot SD1400 Digital Camera Review

Featuring 14.1 mega pixels and detailed picture quality, the Canon PowerShot SD1400 could provide everything you'd expect in a digital camera. Kevin Pereira and Morgan Webb review Canon's latest for its low price of $185.

What You Need to Know

  • This is the thinnest and lightest Canon camera we've reviewed
  • It’s just over .5” thick
  • It weighs about as much as an iPhone so it fits easily in your pocket
  • It’s comfortable to hold and shoot with
  • This is the tried and true interface Canon has been using for years, and it's pretty self-explanatory; the directional pad and function buttons are all well placed
  • One thing that is kind of annoying is the slow start up and shoot time
  • They've added features like 720p video and creative effects
  • The video quality is just about as good as a Flip Cam, and we were very impressed with low light footage; we're glad Canon finally gave us 720p video in the SD1000 series
  • We saw the creative effects in our last Canon review, and they work just as well on this one; there's modes like fish-eye, panoramic, smile shutter, and miniature
  • Normal light photos look terrific; colors are accurate and details abound, especially because it's 14 megapixels. You might get a little bit of blur if you zoom and move a lot
  • Low light photos are surprisingly good; the flash doesn't overexpose, and a weird thing about this camera is that even when it blurs, the pictures still look really cool
  • The picture quality is some of the best we've seen from a point and shoot
  • We do wish they had sped up start time and improved image quality a little more for the higher price

No offense folks, but your format is so unbelievably cheesy. Only in America. Funny haircuts. Stupid jokes. Dumb canned laughter. Oh boy. It reminds me of one of those pathetic not funny films like dumber and dumber or one of those nascar comedies. Pretty sad.
