Feedback: Deadly Premonition and Infinity Ward Exodus
We finally get around to talking about our cult favorite game of the year so far, Deadly Premonition. Also, nearly everyone is fleeing Infinity Ward, and some of them are suing Activision!

I think Treyarch can handle taking the COD series by the reins, people give them crap for COD3 but I think they did a good job considering they made COD3 in 8 months, porting it to the Xbox 360, Xbox, PS3, PS2, and Wii, and on top of that were way ahead of the curve for releasing a PS3 game at launch that wasn't broken or incomplete. But I really think they redeemed themselves with COD World At War and I think they can keep the COD series alive for quite a while on their own if they had to.

As for SEGA, I agree that they should give other companies their IPs, I especially would love to see them do something with Panzer Dragoon as Panzer Dragoon Orta was among one of my favorite games EVER.

Also, glad to hear them talk about Deadly Premonition, the "it's so bad it's good" angle really sold me and I didn't feel that bad about getting it for $20. I got my copy just a couple days ago but I wanted to finish Splinter Cell Conviction before trying it. Now that I saw the Feedback response I'm for sure going to play this next time I fire up my X360.

As soon as Matt said that Deadly Premonition was the greatest Dreamcast horror game never made, nice Illbleed reference by the by, I logged onto Amazon and bought a copy. I've been hearing about this game for a bit, and seeing everyone's enthusiasm for it made it a must have.

With this generation's hardware getting older, and therefore cheaper to develop on, I really hope to see more weird little games like this, because it's been way too long since Earth Defense Force 2017 came out. I'm also really happy that the 360 seems to be embracing this sort of content. I still remember the days when I had to import games for play on my modded Saturn, and this is much easier and cheaper.

Anyways, I've got to go and play some rounds of Groove On Fight now. See you guys next week.

For some odd reason I want to Play Deadly Premonition, I don't know what's going on with those feelings. Sega is really dropping the ball when comes down to promotion. Another thing Abbie said the same thing I said when the "proposal" that Sega should give the Sonic IP to Insomniac, I like that idea.

due to being sick of MW and highly anticipating RDR, I was looking for something new to play. i took you guys' advice and got just cause 2. i found a fighter jet flew a few thousand feet up, did a bunch of barrel rolls, flew upside down above another fighter jet and gave him "the bird" (tribute to top gun), then proceeded to climb until i was well above the clouds, bailed from the jet, while free falling, i went and got a beer from the kitchen, walked downstairs and opened the door for my friend, walked back upstairs to find myself with a good 25 seconds of free falling remaining. thats why that game is awesome. nice recommendation. btw, is it just me or is abbie looking hot...?

Not sure if this is the place to ask questions but if it is:

I've been wondering whether or not mainstream 2D games will ever die. First I thought they would die off in the consoles but then I was introduced to a gameboy. With the PSP and DS it looked like 2D would die off there or in the next gen of handhelds. Now phones are starting to have games.

My question is barring fighters, nostalgic remakes, or downloadable games do you think that 2D in mainstream gaming will die off or will games just continue to be featured in more things which will start their evolution cycle back at 2D?

If you're wondering why I'm concerned, I grew up with the original Playstation and have considered old 2D games to be ancient relics.

Fantastic Feedback. I'm glad that the Leland Yee issue popped up, and I'm completely unsurprised at the responses from Adam, Abbie and Matt. I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly. Moving on from my love of the show and the politics that some of our hosts bring to Feedback.

Okay. So, while I appreciate those of you who have become fed up with the Infinity Ward coverage, it's still a pretty big deal. I had a line about G4 & general media, but I decided to omit it. It's not offensive, rather, it's true, just, holds no purpose in my post. Granted I don't know why I'm typing about it now. Apologies, I digress. Anyhow, personally, The Infinity Ward name (obviously until now) was held in higher regard than Call of Duty or Modern Warfare. Activision doesn't hold any weight as far as my choices in games are concerned, the developer is the key, and it just so happens that most of the developers that I hold in high regard are working with Electronic Arts (which I used to hate for producing utter crap on a constant basis). Personally, I decided (a long time ago, I might add) that I'd never buy a Call of Duty game, aside from United Offensive, from Treyarch. I've always felt that Treyarch was fine with expansion work, but not as far as making a full-blown game. As a result, any CoD game from them (in particular CoD3) has felt... incomplete. It just doesn't have the same feel as a full-blown IW game. I've lost my original point... or I didn't have one. The latter is more likely. Anyhow, I suppose that leads to my question: do you feel, as a game consumer, that a particular developer holds more sway, or a name brand? Hell, for that matter, does the publisher matter to you? What do you base most of your "must buy" criteria on?

Thats it I'm gonna buy Deadly Premonition! I love Twin Peaks and survival horror games and I also have 20 bucks. I can't wait to spill coffee on my shirt. Thanks for one of the funniest Feedbacks ever.

    @Andrew Pfister

I suppose "devote" = a main topic. I mean come on, it's in the title! still, I hope a larger portion will be to the viewer questions next week. some good stuff in there.

Hugely entertaining feedback, I probably could have listened to Deadly Premonition anecdotes for another 10-15 minutes. :P

Parasite eve. They need to update that game. Leveling to get powers. The powers were awesome and weapon upgrades made the guns fun. And they should make PE3 on consoles not psp or a phone.

Yes! Matt, we need Wing Commander back, that genre needs to return. Today amazing things with free roam and multiplayer could be done.

Regarding developers giving a lot more control of old their old titles to the fans,

Chrono Trigger anybody? That game was screaming for a legitimate sequel or remake (don't tell me Chrono Cross was a sequel, I mean a proper sequel). I know of at LEAST 2 LEGITIMATE, impressive sequel attempts that were shut down with a D&D order from Squarenix. I wouldn't mind seeing a Final Fantasy game come out without the needless, frustrating, Edward-Cullen-Twilight-like drama that plagues nearly EVERY character of the series after 9.
