I don't think it's the save system that's a problem...it's the clock system. You can't just run around killing zombies for PP because time runs out on active missions and you can fail in the game.

I got Dead Rising the day it came out and was baffled at how hard it was. I had no idea I was expected to fail just to level up and start over. Then, last year I picked the game up again and started over at around level 7 and played through it...and it was a breeze. That's how I completed the game.

It's sort of like Oblivion. Based on the character you create, you will get stuck on a very early story mission and you need to do side quests to level up. That's fine because there's no time limit, but in a game like Dead Rising there IS a time limit and no one knew you were expected to fail the first time.
