reminded me of something worth $12 on xbox arcade

Doesn't look as fun as Split/Second but then again I enjoyed Burnout more than I did with PGR (and I loved PGR).

That was a pretty boring watch. Hopefully it's much funner to play. I'm personally waiting for spit second to come out.

This game is walking a fine line between pure racing elements of PGR and the combat racing of kart games. While I have had some great matches online, they have not been as frequent as i would have liked. I think they need to add some more chaos to the mix. They need to tip the scale a little bit toward destruction and frenetic action and away from racing.
The game it is at it's best when you get 15-20 people in a race an chaos ensues. It is at its worst when you are playing a smaller match and the lead car(s) gets ahead and nobody ever comes close to catching them. Then it feels like a straight racer rather than car combat. Perhaps they need something like a "blue shell" to help even the field. Mario Kart is a ton of fun but most people know it is equal parts luck and skill. The luck element in that game never bothered me since the experience is so much fun. In Blur I think they rely a little too much on driving skill, yet events beyond your control can put you in a spot from which it is impossible to recover.
If they tweak it away from a racer, I would likely buy it, if not I may pass.

I experienced severe problems trying to find a match. I think in the 4 hours I played it, I maybe had 6 races. It constantly said there was a lot of players online, but I wouldn't connect to any matches. Then a few times it went from saying a certain number of players online, to zero, yet I then connected to a match.
The actual game play was fun though. I think it could've used some more types of power ups with a easier system to understand exactly what those power ups do. On top of that some of the customization could of used some depth. It was still a fun experience though, for when I could actually play.

The lobby and mods system is VERY akin to that of MW2 and their 'perks' so you can tell it's activision inspired. It's a good move because it allows for further customization and strategy and there's less down time between matches.
I've been a Mario Kart fan since SNES, so I'm always up for trying a battle-racing game and I think this one will be good. The demo has been fun thus far, so I'll be keeping my eye on it when it drops.

awesome game but i wish they had team races in the beta!

This game looks great but i can never find a match in the beta.. .so know i do not think this game will be a buy.

If Blur is Mario Kart crossed with PGR, Split/Second is Burnout crossed with Full Auto.
Without playing Split/Second, the idea appeals me more. Blurs vehicle physics are very heavy, no matter what car your driving, which kind of ruin the appeal i bit. But with 20 cars on track, with the tracks not being too large then it ensures that no-one will dominate a race, and with a good selection of powerups in a row, you can go from last to first in a lap. This brings the appeal back into it, and if it was a bit lighter akin to PGR, it would be allot better. This will definitely attract the non hardcore racers, but may alienate the hardcore crowd.
Until a demo comes out for Split/Second, i won't be buying either. Red Dead Redemption's out a week earlier which appeals to me allot more.

This game was incredibly fun! I knew nothing about this game other then the demo was being released and so i picked it up, what came next was a fond rememberence of my childhood days raceing mario kart on the super NES. I loved NFS and Mario kart, the fact that both are combined so well is awesome. The leveling system makes the races so much more cause yu constantly want to do better each race and get to the next level to see what car or power up comes next. Im hopping in teh full game theres more powers to come on the race level itself after a while the same old power ups are easy to dodge and it turns into a regular old race. The inclusion on 20 car races is a MAD HOUSE!!!!! but i never had more fun on a racing game in my life. all in all i love this game, cant wait till its release on the 25th of may.

I love the frenetic arcade action. It's the first racing game that had me wanting more. But still, Split-second looks a hell of a lot prettier and might have more depth. I'm definitely waiting for the reviews on this one.

It's incredibly fun and easy to learn (duh, it's a racing game, and yeah, it's MarioKart-ish).
Split/Second looked good when I saw its trailer; I hadn't even heard of Blur until I got a private beta key from Game Informer. But it's entertaining enough that I'll pick it up. If split screen and/or Live guests are options, it would make a good party game for people that interested in playing games at parties, I think.

I enjoyed it. And I definitely see the value of using a level-up system to keep the multiplayer alive. That being said, I've played probably 5 races across 2 sessions and do not find myself coming back. You can blame that mostly on BFBC2, Just Cause 2, SCC, and GoW3...
