It's gaming laptop week on AOTS, and Kevin and Olivia give us a review of Alienware's M11X, to tell us if Alienware is just as good in a bite-sized version as it is in the family size.

What You Need to Know

  • This is the smallest gaming laptop we've ever seen
  • It is a little less than 1’ across
  • It feels pretty thick at 1.3”
  • The laptop is heavy at 4.5 lbs.
  • That said, it's easily the most portable gaming notebook we've reviewed
  • The screen's 720p resolution looks really good, and it has HDMI out, so you can play games on any high definition monitor
  • The keyboard is a good size and easy to type on, but strangely enough, when you're gaming, the spot underneath your W,A,S,D wrist gets warmer than the rest of the laptop
  • Overall, though, you can still game on it no problem
  • As a cherry on top, you can customize every single light on the Alienware, from keyboard to logo to headlights
  • Games like Just Cause 2 played well, but when we maxed out settings, it got a little choppy; they were still playable, though
  • Our usual 3DMark Vantage Test scored a little on the low side, which was disappointing (2700 points)

Price

  • Models start at $800

Overall Rating

  • 4 Seals of Approval Out of 5 (How do we rate gadgets?)
  • Its didn't blow us away with its performance, but it can still play anything pretty well, and at an affordable price

I just bought the Alienware M11X from Dell - $1,600 start price then I customised it...3 year plan $77 P/M gonna be about $2,600 because of interest.

At that price this thing better sing and dance for me...

Wow that's nice, very nice indeed...Olivia stop bending over. Naw but seriously, I wish you would give more actual PC specs when you review electronics instead of the max potential ones $800=?. What kind of Motherboard? Battery? How much RAM? How many ports are there & what kind? & you don't even provide a link to what you claim is $800. When I went to Alienwares sight its listed as $999 which after taxes is well over 1k. Its a fine find though, thanks.
