i so upset that i never played chains of olympus

i thought the ending was great and i had also just played the first 2 games b4 the third and i totally believed kratos would do most anything for his family, and i was not too surprised after a while from his SPOILER suicide, he has tried ti before lol

    great game overall

No one who was planning on buying a Nintendo DSXL isn't not going to buy it because of the 3DS press release. Most people who would buy an DSXL don't really follow the gaming industry.

that video of Adam at the studio was almost 3 years ago and if you have been watching X-Play throughout those years you would have known that he quit log ago . But I'm more upset that they never mentioned the scene after the credits and who ''the other one'' Zeus mentions to Gaia just before the final fight with Zeus .

i never felt so much like i was in english class in a discussion about video games, and in this case it's not a bad thing. who says video games are not an art.

it was a bad idea, but i watched this feedback without playing god3 yet, although i have played the other two. i thought that the "Spoilers" you were referencing throughout the show weren't terribly important and that i could still play the game and enjoy it since i had really no idea what was going on at the ending, however patrick (nothing against you personally) WHY?!? it was near the end you were about to wrap it up and you gave away the ending. i suppose you could call this your hate mail, although i still enjoy feedback very much and am looking forward to the next episode next week.

Woohoo!!! Question of the week for God of War 3!!!
Sorry, had to get that out of my system. At any rate I think I should first admit I tossed that Metorid: Other M reference in there as kind of a red herring to make the question seem more enticing knowing how most of the Feedback (team? cast?) feels about it. That said and with a nice big spoiler warning on this thread the point I was getting at is more along the lines of what Patrick mentioned with Wind Waker.

What I loved so much about the ending of God of War 3 is that it goes back to many of the defining moments of who Kratos is as a person and what really is motivating him to commit so many brutal acts. Like Matt said the games demonstrate that Kratos is not an idiot, he isn't randomly slaughtering people just for kicks (unless you need health orbs...) but rather he wants revenge for a very human and sympathetic reason, he has nothing else. His family was taken from him by a god, his homeland was wiped out by a god, his chance of redemption was taken away from him by multiple gods. This all comes back around and really fleshes out the protagonist which is what made the games so memorable to me.

Back to the second part of my question, what I was getting it was if more top shelf characters such as Link or Marcus Phoenix or even new rising stars such as Isaac Clarke would possibly show deeper, more human and therefore relatable motivations in future titles. I agree with Adam that it is very dangerous territory to take a well known character to unexpected extremes but at the same time if it's done right it enhances the story and more importantly makes it memorable. Just as how Link impaling Ganon made it so fresh in Patrick's mind doing something similarly startling with another character not only makes it new and exciting but emotionally rewarding.

As always thank you Feedback (force? squadron?) for putting this show up every week even when many of you are away at conventions of expos. It really shows how much you all care not just about the games but also giving us the fans an inside look and if we're lucky a voice.

good episode even if it did consist of over a half an hour of talk about a videogame i have no intention of ever buying :p

the chocolate cake discussion was epic.... and i always get a kick out of watching Adam's hands flailing about when he reads community posts during the show...

Great discussion on God of War 3 guys. It was the most epic game I have probably ever played, and as a HUGE fan of Chains of Olympus, I loved all the references to the great character development of Kratos that Chains of Olympus introduced.

Anybody who missed Chains of Olympus, do yourself a HUGE favor and play it!!!

The audio tracking is slightly off from the video. Why I notice things like this, I know not.

I personally platinumed this game last friday. My first platinum ever btw, and to Matt who said hermes was the toughest boss, I don't even consider him a boss as much of a side note. Try the last stage of the Zeus fight on titan mode, that was rough.

Also I'd love to give mad props to Sony Santa Monica for using Kevin Sorbo as the voice of Hercules. I just happened too have been rewatching the old Hercules tv series and when I heard the voice in GOW3 I died laughing.

Great visceral game that you can really get lost in and just enjoy the ride.
