anyways those are my thoughts, I understand why they went the way they did on the ending, I don't want to start a flame war on this, I just wanted to justify my reasons on why it didn't work for me. I am sure it worked for others but God Of War up until the last 2 hours of the trilogy provided me with a form of escapism into the world of a character that wasn't a typical hero, yet not 2Dimensional (killing for the sake of killing), I just felt that Kratos deserved a better ending than the stereotypical somewhat happy ending that it took.

You could argue that they broke the continuity of the first game's ending by making sequels. the ending of the first game stated that Kratos remained the god of war for the rest of human history. Then the second game comes and negates that point.

To me it seems that God of War wasn't meant to be a trilogy but once people got into the story and the alternate mythology they wanted more either that or sony wanted more money off sequels.

Mind you as a trilogy (if you just wash over the kratos remaining the god of war thing) it works amazingly. The ending of God Of War 2 was one of the best cliff hangers of any game, or movie/book that I have ever seen.

    I forgot about the prequel.

Chains of Olympus also kinda messed with the first game a bit, although I think it may be a technicality, In the first God of War 1 Kratos becomes the first mortal to kill a god, yet you look at chains of Olympus and Kratos Kills Persephone who in the game was a Goddess. I now it may be nit picking but it seemed a little sloppy to me.

Keep in mind I loved god of war, there was just a few plot holes that bothered me however i take them as amendments to the story and appreciate the whole as the awesome trilogy that it is.

I wish I could apply the same to Star Wars , that universe's continuity has been butchered beyond repair.

SPOILER for GOW 3's Ending (sort of)

Yeah it ends like a Disney movie a little bit, it seemed on too much of a high note.
To me God of war War the classic Greek tragedy story for contemporary audiences. Through out the story I seen Kratos and what made him the way he was. I understood where he comes from, but then one character comes along that reminds him of his daughter and he loses alot of what made Kratos Kratos. I liked how they developed his more humane side (that is a stretch) in the other games but in God of War 3 it felt tacked on, here is this guy ready to destroy the world for the sake of revenge but he turns into a martyr in the end. I think that could have worked in the story, but to me It wasn't believable.

In chains of Olympus he chose the high ground of self sacrifice because it was the only way to keep his daughter safe, but in God of war 3 it seemed out of place, I like to think that it was once last defiance to Athena but the whole concept of Hope kinda neutered him I think.

yes it was poseidon but they are essentially the same god just diferent name and culture the romans co-opted all the good parts of greece like art and religion and added to what they already had not saying anything bad about either of them but just wanted to clarify as was said above Anal retentiveness aside, good interview

    @ Adam
It was Poseidon he killed in the beginning. Not Neptune. Got your mythologies mixed up sir.
    Anal retentiveness aside, good interview.

    @fan 42:
....you realize this is God of War III right? God of War II was released a couple of years ago, go back in time and complain on that forum lol. @thepsychogamer:
did you play all of them through? Because the first one didn't end the story, and the second story sure as hell wasn't just "Kratos angry, Kratos smash." In case you didn't finish the second game, it ends with him restarting the biggest war in Greek Mythology, I think that opens up some room for a returning title

Jesus, why is everyone hating on Patrick? First is that SecondTooth idiot and then dbeam308 saying Patrick looks like a kid. Although Patrick doesn't look like he's 25 (you could look as at that as a compliment) he certainly doesn't look like he's 16. And whats with Secondtooth? "That other idiot would have given it a 4/5" not only is that rude, it has no business on this forum, which is discussing God of War. I've heard people saying "Patrick favours the 360" who gives a crap! It not like he is saying "ps3 sucks, go with 360" he just has a preference, like everyone does, I favour the ps3 for example. I don't know, I see people bash Patrick alot, and other G4 staff, and it's gotta stop. They do their job, for us, and you're bashing them. It's gotta stop.

"The best combat" huh? Did I slip and fall into a world where Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry dont exist? Still, GoW3 was a pretty amazing experience. Also, probably the bloodiest game I've ever seen.

I've only played for a few hours, but it's the most awesome game that I have ever played!

I just beat it and I cant stop laughing to myself. I mean that in a good way. The levels, combat, graphics, ending, animation, effects, bosses, and finishers are just unbelievably polished. I'm still in awe of what can be achieved in video games after playing this game.

Dude! The controls in GOW 3 are flawless and 2nd to none. Far better than Bayonetta or any other game out there.

I don't quite agree with the super responsiveness of the combat controls, if I press my right analog stick, I want Kratos to dodge, not do anything cause he was stick in a certain animation. In Bayonetta, anytime I wanted to do something, it did it

I want to play this game so badly! Why must I be broke? When are we supposed to get to that Star Trek utopia where no one but Ferengis use money? (GoW in a HoloSuite is probably not a really good idea...)

Adam, I totally agree with the problem with the "muse music" puzzle if they would have incorporated different symbols for the triangle square circle and X buttons maybe but it just seems very inappropriate like you said i dont know why they have such fluidity then add it.

Keep up the good work Sess
