I like the idea that companies are trying to explore new ideas and court new audiences, but I'm not sold on motion control in general.

Sometimes they are done well, and sometimes they really add to the experience and feel emersive, like in Metroid Prime 3 when you opened doors. But other times they are just needless additions which add next to nothing, or are so weird and unconnected to the onscreen action it is redundant.

    My positives:
    - New technologies open new possibilities for gameplay
    - New audiences mean new inductees into the gaming interest
    - Some games impliment it responcibly and it does add to them

    My negatives:
    - Technology for the most part doesn't seem to have the precision for gameplay in many genres
    - Other featuers (at least with wii) are trimmed to make room for the controls
    - Thecontrols are often shoehorned into games which they do not fit (driving on the wii for instance, or intigration with fable 3)
    - It seems many developers try to find places for the controls, including mini game collections etc.
    - Aim systems do not work for the most part with point and shoot style controls (well I have a large screen TV, so that may have something to do with it)
    - Most clinchingly of all, without force feedback of some kind, motion control systems are un-emersive in my opinion. At no point durring Zelda twilight princess though it was a great game, did I feel like I was wielding a sword or other.

I don't think the Move is going to be disastrous either but I'm stil Meh over it. I'm thinking/hoping that Sony will Improve these games more over the next few months.

I was so dissapointed when LucasArts announced TFU 2 at the VGA's because the news' timing probably means that it won't have motion control. Oh well.

I also think that because Move is so much like the Wii M+, it isn't drumming up as much excitement because it's sort of a known substance. I don't doubt that Move will alter gaming in some way, but Sony hasn't shown that yet and until they do the Move will be stuck in the Wii's shadow.

I think Move seriously has potential to be a console seller IF treated the right way. Seriously guys.....Demons Souls on PS Move....-drools- or..ORRRRR.... a new elder scrolls.....that could work out nicely. I dont think controller pricing would be a problem considering, you could only fit so many people on a screen at a time before people start hitting eachother. Im thinking 4 controllers at a time max. Same goes for Natal where instead of controllers you use your body......which means alot of fist fighting. When it comes to Natal vs Move, i have to say that Move wins handsdown. Partially because developers know how to work the Wii already while Natal is totally different AND the fact that no controller kind of limits gameplay.

My two cents. I'll buy it if I find something worth buying the controller for. Until then, I won't hate it, make fun of, evangelize it. I gain nothing by doing any of those.

I'm with ya on the lightsaber game Adam. Ever since the arcade Star Wars game with the light saber bonus stages I played when I was a kid, I've wanted to see this game. Here's my online petition to get this game considered. http://www.petitiononline.com/ Axl1986/petition.html

I think the main problem with all motion controls has and will continue to be how they are applied to games. the tech itself is quite impressive and indeed innovative, however for motion controls to be more than a money making fad there needs to be some proper games that are specific to motion control. Instead of simply making the kind of games we are all familiar with and changing the control scheme (Socom 4 good example)

something that game developers need to think about is "if you can do it with an ordinary controller then whats the point"

i would be more excited a new style of game that involves motion rather than doing what ive always done but in a different way. again id like to point out, i think the tech but developers do not know how best to apply it to gaming.

Hey Adam, the light saber game thing is on the Wii..."Force Unleashed" you can use the wii remote to swing the light saber and the nun-chuck for the force. tutorial mode tells you how to do it ..

Not a judgment on the product - could be very cool, but someone needs to find the people who named 'Move' and have a long talk.....

Also - i think they should of considered other shapes for the ball end - like a cube or a hex, or diamond... That would probably tone down the snickering...

I thought I saw a high level of precision, but I understand everyone's skepticism. I still think it was a smart move for sony to show their stuff at that point in development.

I would prefer that Sony give us the option of using Move like they are in Socom and not make too many exclusive games. The Wii tried that and it didn't work and the system went to crap. They are better off making it a side thing until they can make something that doesn't look like the wii.

The lightsaber app on my iphone is the only thing that keeps me going until the real thing arrives! (by "real thing" I of course refer to the Lightsaber game or an actual lightsaber, I would be happy with either)

Excellent points per usual Adam, see you @ Pax, I'll be the one with the double X chromosome. (I was going to say "I'll be the one with the breasts but IDK if I'm allowed to mention breasts on these forums)

You make an interesting comment Adam when you say that the fact that SOCOM 4 can be played with either the traditional controller or the Move might lessen the relevance of the later. I disagree because I think Sony should give the gamer the two options. As a traditional gamer, I do not want to lose the ability to use a regular controller. I hope Sony is smart with this issue.

P.S. "That Light Saber Game" lol. Great Soapbox as usual.

If we had the LucasArts of the 90s still, we would have a Lightsaber game. The LucasArts of the "now" era..... They're not even 10% of what LA used to be. LucasArts now is absolutely 100% entierly and completely, suck.

i didn't think there would be a motion controller that looked sillier than the wiimotes.

also, try working on your comedy adam. really not funny.

I have a feeling that what is shown now and the final product released later in the year are going to be two very different things. But to unveil Move with tacked-on Socom and a fighting game? Don't think that was the smartest thing for Sony imo.
