Mezcal vs. Tequila Tutorial

This guy knows nothing about Tequila or Mezcal. Mezcal is NOT tequila. They come from different plants. Most tequilas are going to be smoother than Mezcal. If you want to impress your friends who think Patron is the bomb, which it is not, go get a bottle of El Tesoro De Don Felipe. I recommend the Anejo version for a sipper. Lime and salt are to cover the taste of bad tequila like the Cuervo Gold which is not 100% Agave and has a ton of sugar and other impurities added which is why that junk gives you a bad hangover. If you stick to 100% agave tequilas you will find that the nightmare stories about tequila are mostly due to crap tequila. Other recommendations: Hacienda Del Cristero, Casa Noble Blanca, or Gran Centenario Anejo. If you are at a bar and there isn't much of a selection, most places stock the Don Julio line and that will do in a pinch. Want cheap ass shots? Sauza Hornitos is ok. Want to splurge? Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia is the BOMB! There you go, that's a year of research all wrapped up for my friends at G4!
