PlayStation 3's Major Outage

Sony fanboys around the world are left without working consoles this past weekend due to a clock-related hardware problem. Kevin Pereira talks to X-Play’s Adam Sessler and G4 News Editor Patrick Klepek to talk about what happened to the PS3, Sony’s response and more. How many flamewars will this news start?

They're right that this won't matter. Like Kevin said, if people can have multiple Xbox's red ring and they are still willing to buy a new system, I think we PS3 owners can forgive a 24 hour glitch. Yes, it is concerning that online can mess with single player, but now Sony knows about the problem and it'll be a long time before this would even be an issue. Next year is on odd numbered year, and 2012 is a leap year. It won't be until 2012 before this could happen again, and then another odd year. It won't be until 2014 before this would happen and by then Sony will either have it fixed or will have released the PS4 so, this isn't really going to be a big deal.

Yeah, I don't have any good games for my PS3 (so I didn't even notice this problem), until I get god of war III, that is. And I agree with Kevin since I went through 2 xbox360's (RROD) and I still play the damn thing.

I played my fat 60 GB til 2 p.m. on Sunday and had nothing go wrong. I am at college now so I haven't played it since. Sounds like it's not that big of a deal, but I better not lose my trophies! haha, seriously though, I might cry...

I also have to agree with Kevin. Im on my 4th 360 (2 from the red ring o' death) I however havent played my PS3 since I beat Uncharted 2 for about the tenth time so Im just hearing this now. Its just a hiccup and will be shocked if this lessens their fan-base, and nothing is perfect guys its not a huge deal. We will see how Sony addresses the situation. I have full confidence that Sony will resolve these problems.

For some reason this never happened to me, but I dont think that it makes the console worse than the Xbox to have a server/hardware/software error, because the Xbox (and im not thrashing it, its a good gaming console) is just crippled by the Red Ring, and also damaged third party hardware, such as my friend's Xbox. I think that the fact that you cant play for 1 day does not mean the console is thrash, on the other hand that the console breaks because of the production's fault, and then pay 50$ to get it fixed, thats just annoying...

It won't damage sony's reputation. its a glitch that has become an issue because it affected their single player. that's why it a huge thing. But after 24 hour it was fixed. Like what they said, Microsoft has the red ring around, you get mad, resolve it, and continue playing the xbox, Same thing for ps3. But i am sure it was annoying that maybe a couple of people out there bought a new game, saved some extra time to play and to find out your ps3 doesn't want to play it because of the internal clock having a glitch....

For any 360 fanboy that wants to rip us PS3 owners over look. Until this meltdown repeats itself 10 times and each one last for two weeks, because thats how long it takes for Microsoft to dump your un-repairable 360 and ship you a new one, please just leave it alone. LMAO i was typing and watching vid at the same time and Kevin JUST SAID THAT! Good times. Happy gaming PS3 owners!

It was 24 hours, the only people who really knew about this were people who follow tech... 80% of those people already had a PS3, the other 20% are fanboys who arn't going to buy one anyways. Point is this really did not go that mainstream, even if it did like they said it is already over, everyone will completely forget about this in a week.
