I am a LifeTime member and so far... I am DISAPOINTED. Here is my letter to Jackalope from a Life Time Member:

First of all, I love the game and I am a huge MMO, Computer gamer, and a big Star Trek fan. I am more of a hardcore player and I love challenges. I found Star Fleet Command to be too easy compared to the board game SFB, for instance. I used to play Lineage 2 without the aid of bots and AFK programs and I used to play EvE online but thought that game lacked that everything STO has good examples of... an indepth story, good character customization, decent starship customization, and the ability to do something out side of yourship.

However, lately, the game has become very.... EASY.

Briar Patch was a very easy mission originally, now its so easy you can go afk and win the mission.

The third part of the mission back in space :

And the retail video where Mark did ground combat AFK :

Away Team Episodes are so easy, you can aggro a room, go AFK and win.

Space missions or Episodes are so easy I can click fire beam weapons and just stop and kill foes that are +4 to me.

I been here since Closed beta and I seen difficult. In the last days of Closed beta... every fight was tough, I struggled, and it was fun! I was hoping that Open Beta it was just Cryptics way of experimenting to test out different levels of difficulty and I also thought in Open Beta, you wanted people to excell fast to get to end game content to help test it out too. However, this is still the early head Start days ... and it is TOO EASY. Do not tell me level 1 thru 11 is suppose to be easy. How about the levels after that? When does it become hard?

Look at your data bases... how many people are past level 11 on the Federation side? How many Klingon characters are past level 11? How many people have made it to tier 3.... 4... by Tuesday (tomorrow) do you see people being in tier 4 and 5?

By the end of the month, what are we suppose to do? Re-roll again? make 20 characters and hope sooner or later it gets... "harder" ?

There are MULTIPLE posts about how easy the game is. Sure there are SOME people who think the game is too hard. However, the majority do not. I believe in Cryptic and I believe in Star Trek. I bought the Life Time membership. I want to play.

Do not think we are want the games to be easy... ITS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. Star Trek has always been about, "to boldly do where no one has gone before." How can we boldly go anywhere, if it is so easy... we can AFK win mission?

We want missions so hard that we will be frustrated, we want missions so hard that we will scream at our computers, we want missions so hard we are forced to ask for help, we want missions so hard that when we figure out new tactics and new strategies we will be PROUD to have beaten the mission.

Do not think we are all whiney kids. Do not cater to those people. Cater to the people who want to play this game and who want to share the vision of "boldly going where no one has gone before."

However, I hear in CoH there was a difficulty slider. Have you thought about using that in this game? I would love to put the game on insane and I do not need extra loot to use it either! I want to be a challenged, I want to be frustrated, I want to yell at my computer when i die too many times, I want the Star Trek experience the way it was meant to be... a strategy and tactics game that I use my mind and not go afk to win. That is what Star Trek is about, using our minds to reason out the problems not press space bar until the target is dead and you fall asleep.

    Thank you.

P.S. This P.S. is not part of the letter... I am not leaving or cancelling my order or calling my cc# to cancel my Life Time Membership... I had to call into work today ... so I can play STO. But I want a challenge. I am also not rushng thru content, either... I have 4 characters I am playing... 2 Klingon Factions and 2 Federation factions charcters

Can you explain to me how this is possible?

This is a YouTube video. Can you explain how this is possible and why Cryptic is letting it get this easy?

LASTLY, I know that not everyone thinks like I do... and I am sorry if I used the word "WE" if you are not thinking like me.

I agree largely, but I am in it entirely for the ship-to-ship combat. It's just such a deep, rewarding experience, that I'll suffer through the away-team sections. It does help if you fully utilize the Expose-Exploit mechanics. A nice Cone AoE to expose enemies, then switch weapons to exploit and vaporize them. However, I just don't see the ground combat having any shining moments the way space combat does.

I love how every class can utilize all the space based skills or ship classes. This game has classing in several layers.

Interesting review, but your in a training ship, you forgot to mention that there is:

    1) Playable Klingon side
    2) Storyline / PvP / Exploration Areas
    3) Ranks where you unlock different ships (19 ships in total on the fed side)
    4) Ship types Escort / Curser / Science
    5) Career Choices such as Engineering / Tactical / Science

It does have some glitches and to be fair, even WoW was glitchy on release. It's to be expected. The thing that's more important than the actual glitches though is how quickly the company fixes them. And in that respect, I think Cryptic has been doing a pretty good job.
