Play demo and to my suprise I really liked it.

I may take up development make a game like this and call it "Purple Rain"
You could play as Prince, Appleonia or Morris Day, go thru the purple rain story

For those who can't shell out they money for a PS3 and Heavy Rain, is just playing the first half of Indigo Prophecy over and over okay?

This game is very original in almost every way and has the potential to epic. However I did notice one little flaw in the game while I was playing the game. If you are using an older TV (like me) or a non HD TV the decision commands can be a little hard to read so they probably should have made them a littler easier to read. However if you using a HD TV this won't be a problem. Once I get the money I will definitely be getting this game.

I would have to respectively disagree with Adam. Heavy Rain feels more like a side step in gaming rather than an advancement. A side step as in somewhere along the line the industry has forgotten what makes a game a game. I am not bad mouthing Heavy Rain in any sense and I commend Sony for their efforts with this new IP, I just feel they went in the wrong direction.

    [scene]

Heavy Rain: I love you. You- You complete me. And I just--
cpspoo: Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at "origami".

    [/scene]

Maybe they should just create a new genre for games of this kind. XRPG? "X" of course meaning eXtreme.

I tried the demo. I'm sure some people will love this, but it's clearly not my cup of tea. And that's fine.

    But here's a thought:

We all want video games to be taken more seriously, akin to other forms of media. And Heavy Rain sorta fits that bill in the video game equivalent of the "artsy film." But when we're talking about an interactive media it seems like the "artsy film" feels really out of place. It sure wasn't a whole lot of fun to play this demo, and that to me really seems like the whole point of playing games in the first place.

So do we really want more games that aren't fun? Or does a game like this stand out more if there are less games like it?

    @ Adam Sessler
I'm wondering your thoughts on Indigo Prophecy, as there are no reviews of it on this site
BTW keep it up, love the soapboxes and the Feedback sessions (ahhh the wait excruciating!!)

this game is all that i hoped it was. the action sequence in the demo was definitely the most heart racing experience I ever if felt in a game and the CSI aspect is the perfect balance to even the gameplay out.

And to all those people who have been badmouthing this game because " QTE's are lame" and whatnot, just shut up and try the demo. If you don't like it then oh well but at least appreciate what Quantum Dream has done with Heavy Rain.

I pray to god that game developers do not try to mimic this game in any way. I'm sorry but I don't want to have to go through quick time events just to brush my teeth or take my inhaler...

This is a game I wrote off a while back because of forum comments and just unsure from previews and hype. However, after playing the demo and all the critical acclaim it's getting all around, I am getting genuinely excited about this game. I love when a new game comes out that pushes the genre of gaming. It's definitely more satisfying to complete a game such as this compared to rehashes of the same game play with minor tweaks and improvement. Huzzah!

Love to coment on the game but haven't (like everyone else) got to enjoy it yet. If the game is as good as G4 is saying, I hope it sells really well so that there will be more. I don't mean a sequel in story but a sequel in gameplay with equal polish.

I say that because I don't know how difficult it would be to create a story based on your own choices you made and craft a story from that doesn't let down the first. If they can, Good for them. If not, thanks for making a great stand alone game.

one question: Does the gameplay in the demo accurately show off the the gameplay in the completed game? (in terms of tension and percise control)

I agree, it is a different game that seems fun at times, but I couldn't get into it. I'm the type of guy who kept resetting Mass Effect 2 when something didn't go right, so this game drove me up a wall.

    For the record,

When we were playing in the office a couple of weeks back, several of us just naturally gathered around my desk and were yelling at me to: "OMG Look out!", "Do that!", "Hurry press that!" antics. Very engaging to people observing.

For those in the office, stop yelling at me while I play.
