I've recently played the demo for Heavy Rain and i found it to be completely amazing. I have never played a game with that level of interactivity as the game has dialogue options like mass effect but also has action options which make very different from other games. The action sequences are also some of the tensest i've ever played
All this talk about brush your teeth, did they have your character floss their teeth? It's just as important as brushing.Adam you mentioned that Heavy Rain should be "initimated and used all over the place" but isn't X-Play going to heavily penalized that the game that copies HR because it's unoriginal when its reviewed? Last Sessler's Soapbox discuss about cloning gone wrong, if publishers out there starts making their own HR game, you bet most will be below-par than what Quantic Dream made.
Heavy Rain already pre ordered
I am a huge fan of graphic adventure games, and Heavy Rain really represents an evolution of that genre; environment interaction, conversation and story progression, generally revolving around slow-paced gameplay. I'll be honest, as much as I've expressed concerns, I really wish I had a PS3 to try this. Unfortunately I haven't got the money, space or time for another console so I'm going to have to sit it out, but I am stoked for the fact that Quantic Dream seems willing to promote this style of gameplay.

Thanks Adam for your take on this game, just what I was expecting of you. Also the fact others should imitate this and have it like a example for their storytelling in their games, and what I mean is in the branching that story gets.
David Cage is interested in changing our perception of "gaming" and using video games as a medium to tell a story. His goal is to obliterate the mindless platforming from level to level and fail messages that result in game over. He wants you to experience loneliness, guilt, and moral strufe. Fable 3 seems to be going into that direction with their "touch" initiative. I bought a PS3 because of this game.
loved their previous work - games that have etched themselves into my mind. Indigo Prophecy especially. Really pushed the videogame medium forward as a means of story telling. Have been so excited about Heavy Rain and am glad that its getting positive feedback. That said, apart from this Soapbox, I haven't read or looked at a single review thus far because, unlike most games, I know I am going to LOVE this title, and I really, genuinely don't care what anyone else thinks about it. I cannot actually remember a game where I have felt so strongly about it that I don't need to 'check out' whether its any good before purchase. Day One, no doubt. I only hope that it gains enough support to make all the effort and time placed into its development worthwhile. Now is the time to put our money where our mouths are. Buy, love and support this game if you don't want a future of nothing but military FPS'!
Soooooooooo tempted to buy this game now but then GOW3 comes out not to far after. If i beat it then i will forget it while start to play GOW3. Maybe I get GOW3 then buy heavy rain later on.
I have to agree sess, if I had a Ps3 I'd play it.The only sad part is that many people are going to pass on this game for GOW3. I have to wonder if spending all that money on a amazing game that probably won't make it back was worth it?
I just love how the guy playing duke nukem 3d died like 8 times in the background. Maybe this time if I open the door I won't get shot....

I like the fact that duke nukem is being played in the background when Adam is stressing innovation and breaking genre boundaries.
...why was Duke in the background?
I'm excited for Heavy Rain because it's innovative and it isn't a sequel. I love games that try different things rather than games that are bland and generic. This soapbox reminded me why I miss 6 Days in Fallujah.
Only playing the demo give me a sense I was being part of something. You get to indulge youreself in the experience. Not perfect, but highly recommended.
personally, i loved the game. felt like a totally refreshing experience.
It's a good thing to see developers taking calculated challenges in making new, innovative games. Media Molecule did it with LittleBigPlanet, Zipper Interactive did it with MAG, United Front Games is doing it with ModNation Racers, and Quantic Dream is doing it with Heavy Rain. There are some similarities between Heavy Rain and Shenmue when it comes to interacting with the environment, however Heavy Rain has some of that plus newer things that have been added into the gameplay sequences. After playing he demo recently, I can't wait until the release.
I'll agree with the developers description for the game.It's interactive narrative.I wouldn't buy Heavy Rain for the Gameplay. Its selling point is its unconventional story telling, and the strength of its characters, story, plot, etc...
Have to get this game.I only played the demo of Indigo Prophecy, but I thought it was really interesting, especially because videogames games get stereotyped as only running around and killing stuff (which a lot of them are but....) so it's nice to a different take on gameplay. and if it's a critical success perhaps people other than gamers will see that videogames have the potential of some day being legitimate artistic forms of entertainment (hopefully sooner rather than later). It seems a lot of games are coming out right now/soon that have both strong narrative and gameplay (Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, The Last Gaurdian, Final Fantasy XII) even shooters are becoming more complex.
