"I don't believe comment sections belong on websites" - Adam Sessler

Once again the true game nazi rears his ugly head, spreading his view of a marxist game site. Everyone you work with Adam are most likely to scared to speak up against your brow beating.

Second, you use the sight as your personal forum to attack a gamer, you probably ban hammered his @ss so he couldn't post as well. It is starting to show your true self to the community. Someone who just doesn't care what anyone else has to say.

I totally agree Adam & for the most part I've largely agreed with the reviews of your ratings "With personal experience sometimes". X-play has often saved me from wasting money & has done so once again. In my case I've never had the money or time to buy a PS2 or PS3 just to play GOW so I wouldn't know about the clone issue. But this is where the trust & love of X-play comes into focus. Actually I'm more concerned with your LCPD sweater. Ya see, each time I see a PD helicopter of any kind obviously following me & my wife or a cop following us into a Sub-way "Foodshop" its like burning money in my face. Its not that I have a problem with THE LAW. In contrast, as I said, I am disappointed with celebrities, company's & America as a whole. For someone like myself who so many made Billions of dollars off of, is a travesty. Not all of my ideas where original but some were & yet I've seen not one penny. I've also been made into an icon & "Secret" celebrity in my own right. So what does this mean? Our laws can be manipulated, abused or ignored by people with power when they choose "I'm having a little Deja Vu of American History". I have no criminal record & yet I'm treated like one. America is starting to seem more corrupt & evil than China. & just remember one thing.......evil is often created, since you all seem to like the number 3 so much then take a closer look at the horrors of history. What some of you have done is wrong & you know it, my daughter is now 4 & I haven't seen her since she was born. Why are you prolonging my reunion? You people used me as a cash cow of ideas while trying to keep an eye on everything I do. Not X-play, not you Sess, but its obvious this is the only way I can be heard other than a court room. I love America with heart & soul but your breaking my heart. At least if your not going to give me money then leave me & my wife alone.

Just because GoW came first doesn't mean it can be the only game with that type of build. Cause then we would only have GoW to hack and slash through. There is nothing wrong with a little twist on another game.

    Timeline of my life:
I played through God of War and realized, hey there's alot of hell in this game! I might as well be fighting the whole time in hell.
    I got a 360 and thought damn...I can't play God of War
I read Dante's inferno and thought, hey there's alot of hell in this, this would make a good game.
Now: YAY Dante's Inferno! Clones don't mean bad, it just means clone. Not original. You just got another version of somthing, TADA. Look at any FPS every now and then over the years an FPS game sets the standard for all others. A few years ago you found shooters in two varieties. Gears of War, Halo and COD. You take these styles because they worked.

Why play a clone when you'd have a better time having the original?

I love it how God of War is supposed to be the original action game.

    Minus ten points.

    It's working for me?

Here's the thing with the entire cloning discussion, I played God of War 1, I've played Devil May Cry 1, 2, & 3, played Ninja Gaiden Sigma (can't beat it!). So if I were to get Dante's Inferno, would I feel the same way about the game as being a clone to GoW like most of the critics are saying or will I like it?

Overall, I agree with this soapbox. Clone games can be good but not as good as the game that it's copying. I only have two complaints:

1.) Why the hate on comments sections? True there are those users that are bothersome but I (along with many others) like to put my two cents in a comments section. It shows that your readers give you support (most of the time) and it gives some life to the site.

2.) Does Patrick Klepick know that you're taking the credit for his review?

There's a famous quote that states, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

As a 360 owner, I see the news/screen shots/vids of God of War 3 and think how awesome it would be to play. If games such as Dante's Inferno can scratch that itch (albeit less successfully), more power to them.

the last time this happened was when Batman Arkham was being compared to Metroid.

The problem is that people forget how the rating system works, obviously, and become very emotional when a game does not get credit in their mind that they feel is rightly deserved. Let's look back at.. HEY, Golden Axe? Who wasted quarters and hours on that one? Remember Beast Rider? The lackluster and barely serviceable thing? Just because graphics have come along way, does not mean it is better than the old 2-d coin-op. X-Play usually leads us along the straight and narrow and on more than one occasion has saved me a few bucks I would have felt otherwise wasted. Let's have a reminder of ratings, shall we? 1, being bottom of the sewage. 2, a fun concept horribly marred by it's execution. 3, you'll find something decent but it's far from the best entry in the genre. 4, stands out in it's genre. 5, a wonderful game than you almost forget about your nitpicks for. As Adam and Morgan have stated. Adding a 1-10 rating.. or a something point five rating does nothing more than a 1-5 system. People need to chill, remember gaming is a hobby, and that X-play has some very credible people sharing their opinions. I would take Adam's opinion over anyone at gamestop and why? Adam does not directly gain anything from my purchase, I'm not paying his salary. Perhaps at best.. sponsorship by companies I buy a game from? I'd rather that adviser status from Adam, Morgan, and hell even those unsung interns than the people who just want to push product off on me. End Rant.

I am disappointed that there is no longer an audio only Feedback podcast. Was really nice to listen to while working.

My concern would be with anyone (reviewer or not) who would detract from the score of a game because it is similar to another game. A review of a game should be based on its overall package, with entertainment/enjoyment as the primary factor that determines its final score. Anything short of that is, indeed, a bad review.

A good reviewer is supposed to educate the reader, to give them some small sense of what this game is like BEFORE they go out and buy/rent it. In that case, comparisons are great. If you say something like "If you liked the combat in God of War, you'll probably like the combat in Dante's Inferno", that helps the reader to quickly evaluate what kind of gameplay to expect, and how much they may like that portion of the game. Its a very helpful tool that maximizes the description of a game in as few words as possible.

Clones can be better than the originals. The best recent example is Bayonetta. A far superior game to the Devil May Cry series, and the review scores reflect that. If I had seen a single review where Bayonetta had scored lower than, say, Devil May Cry 4, I probably would have lost respect for that particular reviewer. Especially if they said something like "This is just a rip-off of DMC4". That shouldn't matter to anyone. If Bayonetta copied its formula from DMC but did it better, then its a superior game. Period.

Sounds to me like Dante's Inferno simply lacks the polish and development time that God of War is getting. Sounds like it will still be a good game for fans of the GoW series (like me), but it won't knock your socks off. Whats wrong with saying that?
