This is a great counter strike. Only problem is blocking a hook, you wouldn't have enough time hit them in the arm against a skilled enough opponent. A much easier target would be to the bottom of the chin, slashing them upward hoping to cut their lip and split their chin. Or you could do a thrusting elbow to their solar plexis, knocking them cold. Extortionately these are illegal in most states to use in the Muay Thai ring, but great for self-defense.

Good tip. I like to practice on the bag, I did not know this move but I'll remember it. Most people in fights usually throw their fists all over the place, this move would be a good advantage. People don't use their elbows enough in fights. It's funny, it seemed like everyone in my school fought the exact same way. I've gotten in a few fights and I've used hip throws, I've kicked, and I've even karate chopped someone in the neck before to defend myself.
