Darn it almost answers my question of whether he misses the way X-Play was pre-2005, but alas maybe some other time. At least it was partially answered, he's glad his life isn't like how it was in the GamespotTV days.Congrats Adam, even after 1,000 episodes you're still one of the coolest people ever. I wish you continued fun and memories for as many more years as you want to work at G4 to come.
im not sure if i commented this video before but yes im glad xplay aired cause i think games and humor works well and with morgan and them busts of hers makes it sweet to see adam talk about games lol jk but yes i love this show i watch everyday i can't really say i remember when i started but i never saw the first one till they showed it now but sometimes im not sure if u actually review all games anymore now its down to 2 or one review an episode
Congrats on the 1000 episodes!! Adam made a comment about no more b games for the new generation of gaming consoles. This is very true, but it might have a reverse effect. Now that we have what is pretty safe to say, quality games for both the PS3 and the 360. We are now going to see a higher standard of gaming and reviewing, to where a lot of the games that didn't get that great of a review now, would've probably got a 5 out of 5 if they were on the earlier generation of consoles!! Games like Darksiders and Wet, which are two really fun games, but received not so great reviews by the folks at G4. Simply based on the games in the same genre before them and the standard they set, and when you have a room full of winners, somone has to lose!! Which in the end is going to be great for any real true gamer, because that means more and more games will come out wanting to out do the games in its genre, and we will see more cross-genre games coming out too!!
what the hell is" bomone" (2:55)? haha cool sessler! congrats man! to 1000 more!
Congrats on the 1000 shows but of course you just had to rip the Wii and the DS.
Thank God! More complex games and mixed integration of genres into a single game is a godsend. Stories are getting more intricate and gameplay more complex and yet simplified in a very good way. It's great to see developers trying new means of storytelling and methods of avatar manipulation within these environments. Consoles should not simply be upgraded via eye candy hardware but the programming of the games themselves which makes the games far more intricate to the digital world that what I can manipulate in reality I can manipulate digitally with the exception of bending space, time, laws of physics, or embodying a character archetype within the game. You know, all the fun stuff we can't do in reality like being a Predator and killing a bug on a far away planet.
Congrats on the 1000th episode. I miss your reviews of B-games because I personally thought that those were your funniest reviews and we got to see you at your funniest on the show as far as your commentary went. You crapped on those gems like 2 girls crapped in a cup. As a fan I just ate it up.
Adam, I love your examples. The other episode you used Dane Cook, now Ron Jeremy.... LOL
Congrats on the 1,000th episode!I have been watching your game reviews & news coverage for a long time now, and i can honestly say that i would feel a little lost without it.Mr. Sessler, you are my generations Walter Cronkite of video game news. You were there in early days, the beginning, and considering how mainstream gaming has become now i think you are well on your way to cementing your status as a legend of gaming news.Sorry, didn't mean to gush... Just really happy for you and the fine folks at G4! 1,000 episodes is no small feat.
on the xplay board morgans not a gamer
Going to call this out. You used to attack Final Fantasy games with foamy bile coming out the mouth... I miss those days. How about a legit review presented by Morgan or Blair, then a throw back attack fest from you?
We don't see these B-games as much because it's much more expensive to produce. PS3 and Xbox 360 is a very hardcore crowd when compare to other systems. No way this audience would settle for less. Wii however is a different story.
Omega and others have said that Adams statements on bad games aren't true. You guys obviously misunderstood him or paused the video and just posted a quick nonsense comment for your own amusement. He clearly meant that there are no more games on the big player consoles that are extremely terrible, present in their lack of skill, shovelware that nobody wants, looks horrid, breaks constantly. Of course there are games that continue to suck hard but even the games that are terrible have some semblance of stability and creative thought put into them. He referenced 80s movies that made it to the big screen that were horrid and a broken Bruce lee game. These are prime examples of his thought process on the situation and if you cant understand that then you should pay more attention. I totally agree with him. While some small studios may actually see a terrible broken game through to the shelves; nobody else does. NOBODY. There has to be some baseline level of quality that a sane human being might be interested in. My only gripe about this short video of his is the fact that he called them b movie games. That's not a very good analogy to use as there are too many differences between bad games and b-movies.
Adam......... where's Eve? Lol other than that congrats!! Oh you looked like the Professor from Back to the Future when you had your crazy hair lol
Adam, grats on 1000 episodes and I just wanted to say that I love the Sessler's Soapbox episodes.Oddly, you're monologues are very alluring and interesting to me. Probably because we're about the same age and I can relate to just about everything you say.Keep up the good work!
Adam, you guys just dont look hard enough for those truly awful games. last year my father, thinking he was being incredibly "swell," bought me a game called Two Worlds. Check it out, and dont be surprised if there are options on the character customization screen that have no visible effect.
I recently saw a video interview with Morgan and Adam about their 1000th episode. One of the things that they spoke about was how by the time they've reached the 2000th episode full-fledged downloadable games would be common-place. It's too bad X-play doesn't take a page from that book and make full episodes downloadable on iTunes the day after airing. I don't really feel like paying $70+ for a full digital cable package just so I can watch one show. Every other show I like comes out on DVD eventually. If full X-play episodes were made available on iTunes I would definitely pay a subscription fee for that... Just some food for thought. ;) Anyone else?
You know, I hadn't really thought about it much, but the decrease in scathing reviews on X-Play would certainly seem to indicate that games are getting better overall. It's getting rarer to encounter games that are downright bad and unplayable. The idea that most games will at least be OK is encouraging. With the sheer number of reviews out there and how easy it is to look up opinions, developers pretty much have to make good games if they want to have a shot.
