Are tablets the wave of the future? I thought we'd all have some funky sci-fi wrist hologram thingies by now...and no flying cars either!? What 2000s have I time traveled to?!?
I guess it be worth a try! Not to be rude but its the same crap that i carry in my pocket! Hope its worth 500$ cause if not it will be shipped back over where it came from.
Thats way to much suffice area to guard and protect while on the go. It's a neat thing to have around the house though.
2 SKUs ... why? they should offer the 3g versionnow - add a usb port, a user facing camera, mobile phone functionality (via bluetooth earset), multitasking and the abilty to install anything i like (not just appstore stuff).... and we're talking ...as it stands it's a cool looking device which will appeal to holywood directors to make actors look cool with one of these in their hands.... pointless!
Id really like to see a pen attachment to write and draw on the tablet. also the whole no camera thing (as said a thousand times before) is a crying shame! same with the lack of USB! well have to wait and see what the developers do with it and what software is going to be downloadable. Mark my words books are on the way OUT! maybe not with this latest tablet but Im sure more companies will be producing these and well see cheeper versions. I've spent $500 on one semester on new/used text books and you never make that money back even selling to other students. If some one would just make all these books available for download on a tablet! guaranteed to be cheeper, and I wont have to carry some 30 pounds of books between classes. One device, to store my books, jot down notes plus the occasional doodle and check my e-mails, thats what Im waiting for. Give me more storage, a pen to write with, maybe a price cut, and oh yah SUPPORT FLASH! and you'll pretty much have me sold. till then!
I still can't understand why Apple never enabled flash support in the last iphone update. Come the ipad and the same thing. To push this product without it is major stupidity. As for it being an ebook reader, it won't fly. That backlit screen will burn holes through yours eyes. I just can't find a reason to own this yet.
This just further lets me know how much G$ is in bed with Apple!! The entire video was the two guys making excuses for Apple's epic Fail!! Apple makes great products...No question about it. But lets get serious here, how long can Apple beat a dead horse with their Ipod!!! We saw the ipod, the ipod nano, the ipod touch, the Iphone, and now the Ipad!?!?!?!! They all do the same thing!! Size is the only and I mean only thing that seperates the Iphone from the Ipad!! The average consumer has spent at least $1100.00-$1500.00 on the same hardware just different sizes through Apple!! It looks cool, but what is offered through this IphoneXL that is so important that I have to go out and give Apple some more of my money!! If you already have a laptop, this isn't going to make life easier, your just going to have two seperate devices that you will switch back and forth from depending on the situation!!
I think the IPad would have been a great e-reader killer if thats how apple marketed it, but by saying its going to replace the laptop that was just wrong. I think that if apple were to try and replace the netbook/laptop they need to add flash, give it a slot loading 3d blu-ray drive, give it a stylus, and maybe even a slide out keyboard like a phone, oh and a cam on the front and back, sure itll be a little thicker but who cares. i dont understand why everything needs to be ultra thin, and so small, sure i dont want something heavy but i dont care if its sexy thick.
All I know is that my computer or PC, is a better enhance experience than all of my T.V's combined in my household so I may not be the man to ask for an opinion of this because is the same reaction I got when I first seen the Iphone.Either that or just say some of you may just be too greedy and expect too much, in case you haven't heard abuot it yet, is still bad and tough times. But do what you gotta do, you have more special knowledge on this so go all out.
For all the people complaining about no DVD or Blu-Ray drive, most of my Blu-Rays come with a digital copy, meaning I don't need to take my actual discs with me on trips anymore. I agree that this is not as revolutionary as all the hype led us to believe it would be, but bear in mind that all this hype was generated by speculation, Apple didn't even confirm that this was going to be what their big event was about, so if you are disappointed in what came out you can't blame Apple for not living up to expectations you set of them. That being said, for what this does it is going to sell alot. Also for the guy talking about the Microsoft Courier, they have only announced a proof of concept, it will be at least two years before that thing hits the streets, which by that point the iPad will have had a chance to be in it's 3rd generation and be able to do everything people are complaining it can't do now. I think what we are merely seeing the tip of the iceberg on what this device will do. The original iPod wasn't that impressive compared to what is out now, but back then Apple was a company looking like it was on its way out so no one had all this speculation about what it would do.
Can I jailbreak this.oh yeah, it needs flash, and I dont see how you would play certain games on a screen this big because my itouch is about the perfect size to play with just my thumbs. I couldnt play this with my thumbs...unless I was Mr. Fantastic
I also think they should have called it the Gi-pod.
This is going to be a big product for eReader consumers assuming that the content is competitively priced and the battery life is decent. The iBook Store demo and the gaming demos and basic computing demos were all to show that with this device you have multiple ways to relieve your boredom at your fingertips. Also, Iphones and Macs already support Kindle software if this supports it too, the larger screen, portability, and extra functions would make me store away my Kindle and use this as my primary device. I don't think this will kill the netbooks, but current generation eReaders just began to look extremely dated.
How dare you apple for giving us out dated technology I mean this thing doesn't even have a camera! WTF?!?! No flash and not even a dvd drive? Ok apple go back to 2002!
For me this has more to do with than it not having flash, a camera, any type of ports or anything like that. To me it's all about the accessories that Apple wants to push on you if you do make a purchase. I mean if you want this ipad to even resemble anything like your laptop you need to buy a keyboard, a usb and a camera attachment?! I mean seriously WTF?! It's like all they wanna do is just give you the basis of their devices and their new "it" product only to have an upgraded model come out a year later. As someone stated before they "DECIDED" to leave all those key options out for a reason and the reason is to make more money. Another thing they also forgot to mention was the fact that it doesn't have a removable battery which another WTF moment.A few things I can think of that will sell this is the ibooks or whatever they call it app and the $500 base price. I think it's cool that you can read the books on this and it decreases the bulk of carrying a book on long trips. And the price is really feasible considering that when you buy this it's contract free so even if the wifi isn't for you you could still get the $30 unlimited plan from AT&T which ain't too bad. And maybe someone can help me understand how they got all those pics on there (even though they are like the fake family pics)?
I really wanted the Ipad to be the device of my dreams, but as is I think they might have another AppleTV on their hands(OK maybe its not that bad). But I have been scouring the internet for info on it and it doesn't sound like a great device. I mean come on no flash support, I would say the support is an inevitability but I not so sure, look at the ipnone. I understand that Apple is restricting the Ipad so they can be the exclusive provider of content, but that mindset is what I believe killed the appleTV (I cannot wait for the Boxee Box i.e. AppleTV killer, not that that is a hard feat). All in all I will have to wait and see if the ipad is opened up to the world wide content of the web. Oh Yah, no camera, WTF, that thing is like a perfect video chat peripheral, big missed opportunity. Apple has let us down.
Please, lets not pretend like the eldery are seriously going to use this device. Maybe the elderly of the next 10-20 years but not now, get serious.
oh and come on no camera?? hahaha make it like a computer and it WILL replace computers soo get to it apple and im sold also make a mouse attatchment or something you guys are smart!! improve and it will be a top seller
i watched the aots review of the ipad and wow it definatly has the potential to be amazing...but seriously just a enlarged itouch i wasnt sold i dont think it should be bought at all...at least right now give it some time and i feel it is the future...keep going at it jobbS and it can be hella cool! =P
