"...but what are we supposed to play the rest of the year?"

RPG for the masses!!!! I agree with you on everything in this Soapbox. The first Mass Effect brought this FPS nut into the RPG fold. It was the best thing since Halo 1 for me. It broke the mold and changed the game. Thank god it sold enough to insure a sequel. And while I haven't had time to actually start playing ME2 yet, it is sitting on my XBOX right now. I have already downloaded the freebies from Cerebrus Network except for Zaeed. That whole deal was kinda crappy with him not actually being available until Wednesday. But I'm not going to bash anybody, keep bringing on the freebies Bioware!!! The only thing I would ask is that you update Cerebrus before just deciding not to have a schedule download available. Especially if it is pay to play content. I'll bet there were lots of people trying to figure out where they went wrong when first loading Cerebrus. I would have probably played for a couple hours last night if I had not been trying to find out where Zaeed went. Finally I gave up and went to sleep. Looking forward to this epic game.

Great review. Great soapbox. Always appreciated seeing what goes behind the review process.

Great soapbox Adam, as always. I'm trying to get through the first one, since I never finished it when it came out, and I'm even more excited to play ME2 now. The improvements you mentioned should make for a much more enjoyable experience. I'm falling in love with the story and the characters from the first one and having ME2 right after finishing ME1 will be wonderful to not be pulled out of a universe that I'm getting to know and love.

Thank you, Adam! I did read your review but this Soapbox has really helped me. I enjoyed the first Mass Effect alot but have been concerned whether the sequel is worth purchase (far too much focus on combat in pre-launch hype). Your opinions here have pushed me to thinking this is a day 1 purchase. So, thanks!

I dreamt dialog trees...
Amazing, I'm so excited over this game that I'll probably be sharing your dream when I finally get my hands on it.

Sessler has spoken! Huzzah! Can't wait to finish my 2nd playthrough in Mass Effect 1 as a Renegade since I've made all of the tough decisions so far as not to play the DLC Bring down the sky. And I'm glad that BioWare made the mining less of a hassle as well as the equipment collecting. Can't wait to play this this week! Quick sidebar- did anyone notice how both Mass Effect games were running at the same time yet did see anyone hitting the keyboard or using the controller? Freaky!
