Sessler's Soapbox: Mass Effect 2-Making January Awesome
Adam sits down and explains why he's so glad that a game as good as Mass Effect 2 was released in January.

I think with Dragon Age and now Mass Effect 2, BioWare is starting to really nail that grey area with moral choices. And it makes a world of difference in terms of characterization and giving the world that wholesome and authentic feeling. There is so much more thought behind every decision when you're no longer limited to these typical Superman like Good/Darth Vader like Evil choices.

The dialogue trees are more than just a goofy gameplay mechanic where you game the system to get the maximum light/dark side points. Now it's about how you actually feel towards the characters and I think this is what gives Mass Effect 2 that much more depth.

I picked up Mass Effect 2 yesterday, played it for 8 hours, and seriously dreamt dialogue trees as well. Is it bad that I actually slept better than I have in months while dreaming about dialogue trees?

I never played the first game. I dont have an Xbox; but I am a PC gamer. I decided to get it and so far I am very impressed and having fun. my only problem is that I am about to play Star Trek MMO and I too will probably dream of dialogue trees.

I am more of a Paragon type player. However, I am going Rogue on a few options.

I'm trying to get through Mass Effect 1 a second time before I start on Mass Effect 2, but this Soapbox is just driving me to take that first playthrough save and start Mass Effect 2. I just want to remind myself of everything that is going on from the first one.

done with my first playthrough as a soldier, have to wait to get my memory card back to continue from my ME1 vanguard. Adam hits the nail on the head as usual, my only criticism of the game would be the mining system. i even upgraded the scanner hoping it would make it less tedious but to no avail. with the main story finished, the galaxy fully explored, an hour or two of mining, and all the loyalty missions complete, and all done on normal difficulty i have 26 hours clocked into the game. and now im onto my second character... i really have to get my memory card back.... :(

Haha that's a great ending, too funny. I didn't pick up on the region area attacks and you're right you don't think about all the elements because it all just works. To me it feels like Mass Effect 2.0! I'm so glad I got the CE as well, love the artbook and armor. I imported my first profile in the game and I think more sequels need to have consequences and/or actions/events follow from previous games. Fable III in my head is screaming this feature now lol.

    Played the first one.

Some of it's parts were alright.

But I felt really really burned off of it.

Not going to pick up this one because of the overly negative experience I had with it.

    One question, Adam....

In your dream, did you still go renegade?

Sessler has no life! Of course I also have no life. But seriously though, anyone who plays mass effect2 can't have a life for at least one week! Don't take it from me, ask Sessler or anyone who bought the game. I like you man. Not in a "lets take a shower together" kind of way but more like a "lets play games together" kind of way(it still sounds kind of gay though)LMAO

Poor Adam, having a dream of dialog trees. I would just put this in the same area of when you been out of collage for 5 years and then suddenly wake up in the middle of the night saying your late for classes.

I have played this for only 3 hours and the thing i like the most about this game is the story. I really enjoy the fact that i can make my own story and the decisions you have to make and how the impact the future of the game and how they will carry on to the next Mass Effect. I just want to get to the end and see how my story evolves and the final result but i don't really want to see it end at the same time and have to wait for the next Mass Effect.

Recently i have been playing Borderlands and i just want to kill stuff and level up with all my characters there but on this game i am really more into how the story around my character evolves.

You can tell this game made Adam giddy with excitement when he talks about his vanguard class.

    Posted: January 26, 2010 8:15 PM

It's a Bioware game with the Sessler stamp of approval, and that's all I need to know.

I wonder if it was Mrs. Sessler that was sitting at his 8 o'clock.

..So Adam was playing as the Vanguard class, huh?
    A Renegade Vanguard..
    ..Heheh, interesting.

I'm so happy. I think that we are at a high point for games right now... Like Adam said a couple weeks ago interactive entertainment is at the height of creative achievement. But anyway... I wanna' go play ME2 now. P.S. I read the review.
