Sessler's Soapbox: Mass Effect 2-Making January Awesome
Adam sits down and explains why he's so glad that a game as good as Mass Effect 2 was released in January.

This is the first time I've seen Sessler's Soapbox. I have to say I'd like to see the reviews on X-Play follow this style instead of the strange and over-hyped and broad reviews typical of the show. This is the first time I felt like I had a grasp on what the game was, did well, did not do well, along with what I would consider to be the true enthusiasm of the reviewer, Adam Sessler: obviously.

I know X-Play has a lot to cram into a half hour show, but this is really what I would prefer to see. Great review.

I just wish that all of the only-PS3 owners could play both ME1 and ME2 games. Not to be mean, but so they can experience this series. And that what this game is. An experience like no other. This my favorite 360 game. (And I play Gears and Halo alot). I told my friend who is PS3-only that if he bought a 360, I would buy ME1 for him. Just so he can experience it. I am not ragging on PS3. I know that it has some awesome games. But, I wish everyone could experience this series. (I personally believe that Mass Effect is the true new generation version of Star Wars. I have been a Star Wars for over 25 years, and when I played Mass Effect for the first time ever, it gave me that same feeling as when I saw "Star Wars: A New Hope" back when I was 6). All I can is........ Thank you, Bioware

I'll rent it. Even though ME1 was a great game, I didn't like it overall because it wasn't exactly what I wanted from it and ME2 has a good chance of being what I would want from it.

Great review and soapbox Adam. Can't wait for the Feedback next week. Something I'm really enjoying about ME2 is the importation of my character from ME1 and the rebirth of the Commander in the beginning of the game. In the first game I was a paranoid violent xenophobic bitch. Having all my prior actions come back to haunt me created something truly amazing. I actually felt regret for some of the things I did in the first game and without planning to I started to play Sheppard as someone looking for redemption for their past sins. Never really saying it in the game, but always thinking it in my own head, I treated my rebirth as a chance to start fresh. I'm stunned at the level of intimacy and personalization Bioware has created here. Not only do I want to play the game again as a different class, but I also can't wait to create a totally new Shepard. Phenomenal game I will now buy anything Bioware releases.

i love the mining! am i crazy? im glad you like it adam. i feel like this game is the evolution of gaming. and funny that you speak about dreaming ME2, because the last 2 nights i have slept after buying ME2 i had some sort of reference to ME2 in my dream...

i tried explaining ME2 to my wife, who was watching this documentary with me about ewan mcgregor and charley boorman "long way round/ down" that showed them driving bikes around the world in the first series then down through africa the next. while we watched we said it felt like we were there with them while they spoke to the camera because we were invested in their daily struggles and what not. anyways, i told her that ME2 is a similar experience. you really feel like its a place you have visited because of its vibrant, lifelike creation. thats the best compliment i can give ME2.

I actually bought a 360 elite today mainly because of this game but the 360 does have some very nice titles.. I will be trading my ps3 "fat" in a few days to to the newer "slim" model!

for some reason i do the mining way to much, i think its exciting to get a very high level of some metal, i think its a bit fun. But yes sometimes i have to stop myself so i dont break apart the upgrade experience

I love Mass effect 2, I just want to say one thing, the mining isn't terrible, it's tedious and lacking in comparison to the rest of the game, The characters are wonderful, the writing is great, the combat is so much better than the original game.

I think, for me, the games are different enough that i will go back and play the first one... comfortably? I think so. Always like to go back and play.

Also need those last few achievements.

I wouldn't disagree with anything adam was saying, however there were two things that angered me. The lesser of the two, well the much, much lesser of the two was that I had to worry about ammo, this I will get over quickly. The much greater of the two was that, EA contaminated my Mass Effect. I really need to get my accounts fixed with microsoft and EA because when I went to get my inferno armor I saw that I had to log on at the website with my EA account. Now this may seem like i shot myself in the foot here but I really just wanted secure accounts so i used this rediculous password for my accounts and well, I don't know it anymore and my windows live ID does not exist. This didn't help especially after GameCrazy wouldn't let me buy CE of MassEffect 2. I really do hate though how EA requires you to have a seperate account with them for stuff like the online play in Burnout Paradise. I need some help with my accounts as you can all see, please help :(

I would of dreamt of dialog trees too had I gotten any sleep last night.

charge is extremely satisfying, especially when you knock someone off a ledge with it. I am as a pingpong ball of death.

I liked how you had both Mass Effects running in the background. Really lets you get the feel of how much it's changed.

I can't wait to get this game, but first I have to wear out Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, and Bayonetta. This could take awhile.
