Good show guys. I really liked the detail about the NPD stuff, some people just look at is as numbers, but I like how you guys try to analyze the meaning to said numbers.
I realized after I submitted the question that it didn't make as much sense as it could of. But you guys seemed to understand what it is I was trying to say so it's all good. I'm also a big fan of linear games. Mostly because I find the story in games to be a great medium. Perhaps it is just a fantastic combination package of various mediums that help you appreciate and understand the creative effort that goes into a game in general. I know I felt that way about Uncharted 2 anyways. Anyways again, good show guys, as always the discussion is appreciated. (By most anyways. :P)

that end discussion is exactly why i always joke that the Bionic Commando reboot was a breath of fresh air. What I mean to say is that at a time when Infamous, Prototype and Red Faction all came out in the period of like what...2 months of one another (total). Here comes a game that punishes you from breaking from the preset path and it just felt kinda refreshing to play a 10 hour game rather then a 15-30 hour game.

Hey Adam did you get that shirt from The Others locker room in Lost?? LOL j/k man but seriously it looks like a burlap sack with neck and arm holds. As for the Wii conversation I believe Patrick had it right when he said people just buy the Wii and just get a few staple games (Mario Wii, Prime Trilogy, Wii Fit, and all the great vcon games so in turn points cards ). Also maybe with the new Zelda news and new Metroid, people may be getting excited with the Nintendo again. As for the linear discussion, I think its fine if a game wants to take that approach, but I also like open world style games. It all depends on the game. I loved Uncharted 1 & 2 but I also loved Gta 4 and this year I'm super stoked for Red Dead Redemption which promises to be amazing. The thing about linear games is sometimes I don't like having 3000 choices to make, sometimes I just like to sit back and buy my ticket and enjoy the ride. Uncharted 2 was a great ride and I didn't get bored for one second. Anyways that's all folks, sorry for the over sized comment I didn't mean to blather on but the episode had lots of interesting topics.
Great Episode Guys and Gals

Mass Effect 2.

I'll challenge the suggestion that PS3 outselling 360 by less than a million is significant. One photo finish does not a war win.

I can't believe the whole "console wars" thing is still going, seriously both consoles have great exclusive content and offer multimedia so why bother asking which one is better.

About the console wars...
Let's face it, all this fighting is about jealousy. I am a PS3 owner, but I really wish I could play L4D2 and Mass Effect 2. I bought a PS3 for one simple reason: I don't trust Microsoft. But that was just the point that tipped the scales, as I purchased my new system only recently when the PS3 seemed to fix most of it's problems. With this generation (as opposed to generations such as the SNES/Genesis generation) it seems to me that most games should play on most systems (Uncharted 2 being exception that proves the rule, though I still think that's PR BS). The arguments over which console is better is fueled by corporate propaganda from both sides. Eventually, most gamers will own both systems.
I say both because Nintendo is dead to me. Sure, I'd love me some Metroid or Mario, but I'll be waiting for the Wii to hit the bargain bins. Without online functionality, I see no need to play these right away. To add insult to injury, Nintendo is following in the footsteps of Atari, allowing shovelware to be released so heavily that the newer consumers feel overwhelmed. Remember the Nintendo seal of quality? So much for that!
I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask my fellow gamers to put their petty squabbles aside and promote the general acceptance of the PS3 and Xbox 360 in more casual environments once the new motion controls are released. The battles between these two titans are good for gamers, fueling innovation and economy. Nintendo on the other hand is determined to frighten the casual market away from consoles all together. While some might argue "who cares," I'm afraid of another 80's crash. Sales are too high for that, you say? Not when stock expectations rather than basic profitability control these companies.
PS... While the DS is aimed mainly at a younger market, I am an old-school strategy gamer who can only find an outlet with that handheld.
Arcknight
Linear + Nonlinear = MassEffect 2 ......OMG MASS EFFECT IS COMIN OUT SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm probably the opposite of most people, in I waited to buy a PS3 and never got a 360 because I was still playing my PS2. Last year I thought about getting a 360 (elite) but I just haven't seen a first party MS game to catch my eye enough to justify getting one. I think I may pull the trigger when Halo Reach is released but I just don't know if I'm going to be investing a lot of cash in a system at the end of it's life.
I do agree that we ALL win when any platform sells well... Especially if it spurs competition.
P.S.
