Admittedly I'm incredibly late for this debate, but I wanted to share my opinion. The Airport scene in MW2 is disturbing, graphic, and completely needed. I've always hated the argument that games are training simulators for psychopaths, and if you enjoy said games you are most likely destined to kill someone in real life. Games are just games, amusing ways to spend your spare time. As someone who grew up being a casual gamer, I feel I am fortunate to have the games growing as I do. With the median age of most gamers going up rather steadily, its nice to see games with mature content coming out. I personally don't feel that the story in MW2 would have suffered with this scene removed, but I also like the level of depth it gave me. In the end I think it really sank home the idea of this being an over the top action movie and I am glad to see elements like this making it into games. This scene helped cement the game's story in my mind, not because of the shock value of it but because of the seriousness of the situation you face in this story. Personally I feel honored that Infinity Ward was nice enough to allow me to take part in such an entertaining story.
