I saw a post a page back comparing the 3D fascination with the giant love fest surrounding Natal. Although I am also pessimistic about how natal will turn out, I think it would be more accurate to compare the 3D craze with the big hub-bub that surrounded virtual reality a while back, and all we got out of that was the Virtual Boy.

I would hate to see developers fall into the habit of selling games or whole systems off of a gimmick alone.

    Amen Mr. Sessler. Amen.

So did anybody else spend that entire video just staring at the display playing Flower while listening to Adam rant? That stuff is hypnotic.

Here we go again... yeah Sess, I can remember when we were 'immersed' in Nintendo's Virtual Boy Console. I still think my eyes are screwed up from playing this '3D' console for less than 5 minutes. It's all just 'flash in a pan'. I mean seriously Wipeout HD is as good as it gets without 3D glasses.

This generation of games are incredible, superior graphics, storyline and post-production quality with DLC expandiblity... gaming companies should focus on their current strengths and not be influenced by the mass media's obsession for 'sensational' news stories.

ok sorry i was angry before you cant judge something which is making his first steps just be more patienced you cant say isnt cool for first step.

Also black&white tv cant impact the gameplay.

And stop you upgrading your graphic card you
know that doesnt have ANY impact at the gameplay right?

I would love to experience a 3D game for myself and form my own opinion. But considering the price I guess I will have to hope the game industry makes the right choice weather to go 3D or not.

3-D is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. If my TV could make me a sandwich while i am playing some COD, now that's immersion and innovation.

While i agree that 3-D is a gimmick at best, Assassin's Creed 2 in 3-D sounds awesome.
    Imagine the leaps of faith.

i agree with you Adam on a certain level. i think that as of now, 3D has absolutely no ability to bring us closer to the game. i like the way you described it as a "trapped" feeling because thats truly what current 3D devices do, to me at least. however, i do see maybe in the very far off future, glasses-less 3D games that worked with holograms in which one could interact with them in their living room. an example of this would be like a casual physics game that would require you to build a Rube Goldburg device with a combination of holograms that are provided and items in your house to act as surfaces, to make a hologram ball go into a hologram cup. or possibly a game in which holographic life size enemies would appear inwhich you would have to fight. I can already imagine how much controversy that will lead to with people making "kill animations" that require the use of your body, but i digress. I do not see 3D as of now any bit practical and i don't think it will be anytime soon, people just need something to push now that all major consoles are out, and the format wars are over.

It's funny cause even in the movies, the 3D graphics have minimal effect on me

Bless you Adam Sessler for pointing this idiocy out.

I truly loathe this 3D nonsense... it doesn't improve films and it sure as hell won't improve games... I've seen a couple movies in 3D in Imax and all I know is it looked weird and caused me severe eye strain by the end of the movie.

It's a useless gimmick that doesn't make gaming better in any shape or form. I have no desire to move beyond the 2nd dimension of viewing games and movies.

Perhaps if they invent actual holographic imaging.. then maybe.. maybe... 3D will be good. Maybe.

Just to be clear, 3d is a gimmick, but NATAL is not? Yet EVERYONE is in love with the idea of NATAL, and almost nothing is known at this time about it. No idea how games will play with it, what the games will be, but NATAL is the future of gaming, without question? Motion control is the way to go, just as long as your not a paraplegic you can join in on the fun. I mean, we only account for 13%-17% of the population so who cares right?
Way to go Adam/MS, you've done it again!
