Yeah, I'll have to agree with you Adam that in Avatar...I COULDN'T SEE SHNAT. It looked terrible and almost ruined the movie for me.

3D is the future of not only games, but most major consumer electronics. "But".. that future is not anytime soon.. especially with this equipment, features, and marketing method. As it stands now.. this will be yet another colossal waste of time and money on trying to force something ahead of its time.

I would like to add, that if you really want 3D gaming, go outside and play some basketball with your friends.

thank you adam i have been saying this sense. i saw journey to the center of the earth(if you have not seen it dont). 3D so far is just a gimmick, its an excuse for the movie industry to make lame movies and hype the hell out of them. or its a good movie and the opening credits are in 3D. I saw avatar without the 3D and i enjoyed it way more then if i had it was a good movie, it really did not need to have 3D.

With so many truly amazing revoltionary video game titles that have come out in the past few years why do they wanna screw with a formula thats working video games get better every day without 3-d. I do not see how 3-d adds anything to the movie or video game experiance. 3-d glasses give headaches and are more annoying to wear than anything so i hope to god that video game developers do not start cranking out this 3-d bull@#$%

I agree, 3D gaming will not work out. With 3d you have to basicly sit in one place and not move around much to get the full effect of whats on the screen. With gaming most of the time your not sitting still and especialy your not going to sit still when friends are over and your in heated competition and you try your best to mess up your friends concentration.

I would like to add to the fact that with the new motion controls from microsoft coming out and from Sony for their respective systems means your not going to be sitting down much to use the new interface devices and again the 3D viewing will be lacking in a major way.

#d might be good for enjoying a movie, but i would not recoment it for gaming or watching sporting events where your with many friends and your up and about every few mins or doing something that your not planted on the couch or favorite chair you like to sit on.

and also...3d up to this point has pretty much sucked..its been a novelty..a side show attraction if you will..a gimmick..im not saying it doesnt have potential but you have to think will it really improve gaming or change it for the worse?

also dame cook sucks..im glad they banned him from movies..or maybe thats just a wish

The sad truth is that 3d is actually a transition to the next revolution...4d...currently they have developed a 3d screen that doesnt require glasses...while the current form of 3d is not need the next generation of 3d might actually change things...the ability to put gamers into the game to create a sense of rush is what gaming is drifting towards.

i agree 110% with what was said here...ive seen post after post on this site claiming ooooh i cant wait for 3d ooohhh 3ds gonna be so awesome...STOP IT!! its just like the man said here..be content with the great games and systems you have here now because whats gonna wind up happening is all these game companys are gonna see this push from these fanboys and think we gotta get in here and make this 3d thing happen so we can make some $$$$. all the while the games are gonna suck and your gonna spend money on 3d games and tech that wont satisfy you for three years till the tech finally catches up to hype and then itll just be the next thing..maybe 4d who knows...and seriousy how many of us out here now have the money to spend on 3d tvs and glasses and games???? really??? how many?? i know i dont..and i know i wouldnt spend money on that crap even if i did have it..

I completely agree with everything said in this video. As said by Adam, every one drools over something new. Both project Natal and Motion Control by the PS3 will flop hardcore. Oh my god we have new motion technology!?!? If I wanted to swing a wand or my hand around I would go to the bathroom or buy a Wii. Games are doing fine the way they are. Games are finally be made with impressive storylines and more attention to detail than ever!

3-D may not be able to really change gameplay, but it can be used as a kind of art form, like staring at the Mona Lisa and you just have that kind of "oooooo....aaaaahhhhhh..." feel to it. If the images projected from a 3-D game actually pop out and look crisp, the colors are rich, the motions arent choppy, then you may just get that "oooooo....aaaaahhhhhh..." feel and you will appreciate how beautiful it looks, its just another experience. This is good for experimenting with as well, to help us get to the point where we can actually feel a projected image or some futuristic thing like that, idk. I can see it work will with future motion control games, for current games all I can think of is "Flower", if its modified right, that game would look amazing in 3-D.

I am glad you voiced your opinion in this topic Adam. I am also fearful that new technology could change the video game industry. While I was posting a message about Project Natal yesterday, I kept thinking to myself: "and I was just beginning to enjoy the joy of playing awesome video games like Uncharted 2."

I am on board with the whole "games don't need 3D", although it could be beneficial for a very select few games, for example Crush.

"Crush's primary gameplay feature involves manipulating each game level between 3D and 2D views, allowing the player to reach platforms and locations inaccessible from within a different view." (Wikipedia)

From what I understand 3D needs a lot of refinement as it is, but it is an avenue that can be explored and in rare circumstances could be potentially utilized to add a whole new layer of depth and even a new game mechanic. Is it right for all games? Probably not.

haha no one could have said it better than Adam. Really, THANK YOU. Just when almost everybody has an HDTV they decide to bring 3D TVs? It's just a stupid idea and I'm sure that its going to die soon.
TV doesn't need 3D and games definitely don't need 3D graphics. I like how everything looks now.

Great Soapbox. Totally agree that 3D adds nothing to gameplay. I think 3D is just a passing gimmick like it was in the 70's. it just looks better now.

I especially like the rip on Dane Cook. =)
