I must say, Dante's Inferno has some great voice acting, I really feel Dante's anger when he yells.
im glad its similar to GOW i only have a 360 but i've played GOW and it's real fun so i hope this game is just as good
God of War clone? NO it isn't - at least for me on the demo. It IS more like GoW and DMC had a love child and its good. At least the demo was.
I played the demo, but I think I'll get God of War before this because I want to at least experience God of War. I like that it's based of Dante's nine circles of hell (I'm destined for the sixth), but I would be lying if I said I was playing it for the Dante factor. I just don't feel like it's Dante at all!
It was ok. I don't see it setting the world on fire and the part where he "killed" Death was kind of hilarious. Not exactly what I remember Inferno being about but hey, artistic license and all. May be worth buying on sale but I have feeling it will get lost in the shuffle. I liked it enough to be annoyed when the demo ended as the door to Hell opened so I'll probably check it out eventually.
While I'm mainly a fan of the DMC series and have played GoW games, I found DI a little under those titles. Sure it plays well and works fine I'm sure, but I forsee several of those enemies driving me nuts. I also found it a tad silly the shear amount of exposed breasts for an M rated title. I'm surprised they got away with that.
So i guess we can say that GoW is a copy of Devil May Cry? without replication there will be no progression get your head out your ass' GoW fanboys.
Now I know for sure that my mom will not allow me to get this game. Oh well, it made me feel bad enough watching Death plead to be spared. Where does Death go when he dies?
Anyone here giving praise to this Dante's Inferno G.O.W clone believes in piracy. As far as I see, the X-Box users are all for it, why?(1) Most dont have a PS3. (2) Check the MW2 piracy stats for X-Box.
I agree that the game play is very much "been there, done that", but as video games move closer to taking over cinema in terms of story telling, I think that's where I'll reserve my judgment of Dante. We could say that first person shooters are all the same because of the game mechanics, but think about the different experience you get from Bioshock as opposed to Modern Warfare. Both equally great games with two totally different stories. I hope that's what makes Dante a breath of fresh air and it appears to be. Looking at the story telling mechanics, from the flashbacks to the cut scenes, it has potential. Also, I applaud it for being heavy on Mature content. The kiddies have their games (Nintendo's milked franchises) so let us have ours.
GOW ripoff, simple as that! But, if after the finale of GOW series (God forbid), then this may be the obvious choice, until then GOD OF WAR all the way!!!!Okay, 360 brats, flex your thumbs.
i thought the demo ran and played very smoothly i had fun with it and the fact i cant afford a ps3 so i cant play god of war this is a great way for me to have that experience.why does everyone complain its a ripoff. yea it plays similar and all that but if you love god of war so much shouldnt you be happy theres another game like it out there. or is it because you dont want 360 owners to play a game thats even close to god of war because your a mindless brainwashed slave to a company that could care less about your exsistence.... make sure you put your masters company down on your will so they can keep getting your money and your families money long after your dead.
I'm happy to live in a world where i don't have to choose one or the other. I'm choosing to own both.
i want this game ,but after the demo its a rent...........
I played the demo a few weeks ago and it was something. The combat is okay, I also played the GOW 3 demo and I like GOW's placement of the button cues. I think what I found most enjoyable about the game is the game's scenery and overall atmosphere. They really had a vision of hell when they were making the game and it shows. I'll be picking it up, but that's not going to stop me from getting GOW 3.
When i first heard about this game i was truly intrigued... now that i have played it... I AM NOT... The gameplay is so banal... the minions of hell are not very inspiring... as far as hack and slash goes this is just a hack... for an action game i thought the action was pretty slow, and you'd think that with deaths scythe you'd do some cool crap but NOPE... I am a huge Ninja Gaiden fan have beat everyone of the games that came out on the xbox... i'm sure this game will prolly take me 2-3 days to beat at the most and that is just cause i have a kid and a fulltime job... way too easy... i do like the idea of it though but not properly executed... guess i'm gonna just have to get Bayonetta and Darksiders.
The demo wasnt that good. I did enjoyed it a little for the few minutes i played it, but at the end, it didnt leave me any type of emotion. The story maybe be intresting, but the game play isnt as fun as GOW... it was fun enough i guess. The full game will certainly be better, but i'd rather pick GOW 3 up first.
One more thing, why does he have magic? He's suppose to be a devoted Christian (led astray by the Pope, but still holding up the Christian commandments even if he gets a little brutal), but witchcraft is a sin in Christianity. It just doesn't make sense why they would make that as part of the character. It just seem unnecessary and it detracts from the whole "he's a crusader, fighting against the legions of hell to get back his love and gain redemption from God".Or is that just me?
I'm fine with it being like God of War, but the fact that even the enemies seem to correlate directly to GoW enemies is just about absurd. In the demo there didn't seem to be much innovation (none, actually), and the story didn't really make sense: he's fighting these random people because what, exactly? At first he was just guarding or what not, then it just jumps straight into combat without an explanation of what happened, then he gets stabbed in the back by some random guy that comes out of no where, even though he had just gotten finished wading through an entire crowd with ease, then the fight with death is just disappointing. You just sit there and block and attack after he attacks. If death was that easy to over defeat, why the heck did it take so long for someone to do?The enemy and combat design have no thought put into them above what's expected of this genre of game at the most basic level, so unless the demo doesn't have the full beginning of the game like it seems to, or the rest of the game is amazing, then I'm greatly disappointed in what I thought would at least be a satisfying game.Oh, and not to mention that I thought we were past not letting the player have control over the camera? What the heck?
@Jimi0088 - This game looks pretty good but the degree at which they are ripping off GOW is rather absurd. I'm not going to by the whole "GOW wasnt the first or last of its kind" argument because 99% of the games going today are rehashed to some extent anyways.. but not to "this" level. IMO the game deserves any sales and praise it gets because they are least seemingly doing a quality ripoff, but at the flipside they deserve every bit of criticism they get for following GOW's blueprint almost exactly(even the damn health and magic chest/fountains are the same color for God's sake)@everyone defending virtual robbery - The demo better damn well show off some new additions to the formula or this will be another ridiculous example of how a blatant rip gets a free pass by the mainstream for being "kinda good". I'm willing to let Visceral do their thing the first time around but further copying will only lead yet another genre into the realm of inbred messes we get in the FPS genre.
