Panasonic Viera G10 Plasma HDTV Review

Settle down for the winter season with the warm and cozy Panasonic Viera G10 Plasma HDTV. Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn take a look at its THX certified quality, dynamic contrast ratio of 2 million to 1 and Viera Cast features with its $1100 price tag.

What You Need To Know

  • This Panasonic Plasma isn't as super thin and stylish as other LCD televisions, but it's an okay fit for your living room.
  • Most of the inputs are on the back (2 HDMI and 2 components) so wall-mounting the TV would only give you access to one HDMI or one composite input along the side.
  • The plasma measures 4" thick and the black trim is pretty standard.
  • The stand doesn't rotate.
  • The Viera Cast service allows you to connect to sites like YouTube, Picasa and a few other widgets.
  • YouTube was really easy to navigate and watch, and you can log into your account.
  • Amazon Video On Demand is also well integrated: just pick a movie and stream it for around $4.00 in HD.
  • You can also access info on stocks, weather and more.
  • Overall, this is one of the best Internet widget services we've seen on a TV.
  • The picture quality is amazing.
  • Colors are incredibly accurate and everything looks spectacular.
  • The more vibrant you make the screen, the less accurate they become but it's very minor.
  • Blacks are very deep because of the 2 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio.
  • Overall, it looks spectacular.

  • $1,100.00 on Amazon, which is cheap for a 50" plasma.

only 50"? Meh... Only good if you have small room...
BTW, good quality HDMI cables are at monoprice... Make sure you get Cat. 2 that's rated for HDMI 1.3a if you want full 1080p

i was able to buy 4 of the really high end HDMI cables for $100 and they are 5' long. Sure there may not be that huge of a difference with the smaller length cables but knowing i have the best of the best is good for me. Now if your going like 30' I would recommend the higher end cables....look on ebay or something like that site though because they are cheaper. I would actually consider this tv if it had 3d capability...I know will ONLY get 3d capable tv's after seeing Avater...
