Wow.I have never played an MMO nor have I ever planned on it. But this, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I want to get STO so badly right now, but I just hate the fact that MMO's have monthly fees. I'm not sure I can fork out that kind of cash since I don't have the time to play games that often. But I'm a huge Star Trek geek! Gah! This choice pains me!
The worse thing about MMOs is...CONTENT... CONTENT... CONTENT... then other stuff.I have played many MMOs that come out where there is not enough CONTENT and people leave. There is very to little crafting. No player capturable systems to speak of. Only two factions. Limited info on the Klingon Faction, it seems to be 99% Federation Faction. This has me worried. Will I play this game and within 3 months leave because its boring? Warhammer Online, Age of Crap... I mean Conan, Aion, Vanguard.... just to name a few. Will Star Trek MMO be different or the same?Eve online was built for a smalll community and its a great game, but lacks a personality too. The AFK learning a skill is not for me. However, I love hardcore PvP, but EvE is a bit too extreme. Star Trek may be too carebear on that front too.
that would've been much funnier had it worked...fail
lol @ kkotdOfficer: \"Captain! We have reinforcment dots approaching from starboard!\" ____________________Captain: \"On screen!\" | | | . . . .. . . | |__________________| Captain: \"All available power to starboard shields. Engage!\"
Don't be fooled by this, we know damn well this isn't how it will be at launch, it will be laggy, fleets won't work at first, these camera angles won't be at all optimal and we will be left with what Eve has which is tons of little dots going after other little dots.
DS9 and voyager had some huge battles. The last couple seasons of DS9 had many battles with hundreds plus ships.Doesn't matter to me though, My computer is a Mac. Too bad.
Uh massive space battles in the TV Series and Movies? Which shows were they watching? Massive space battles were actually pretty rare in the shows and movies. First Contact had a massive fleet battle, that was about it for the movies I think.Anyways, more of this I see the less I want to play it.
@ BlackLable69... Its an MMO, of course its PC only. Consoles just don't have enough fidelity to do MMO's yet. (though borderlands might work as a console mmo)
Ok I'd love to sit here and say how Im gunna buy this and play it when it comes out but to be honest my computer isn't nearly as good as it needs to be. Between this and Star Wars Old Republic PC games Im missing out quite a bit. Thankfully my buddies comp is golden for gaming so ill be convincing him that this game is awesome which i think he will establish after the first min of any footage of the game :)
The game is looking fantastic!!
Finally a concept thats actually looking good in STO! This actually makes me want to play!
I'm worried after how Cryptic's other game Champions turned out. But I'll still probably buy Star Trek Online regardless, mostly for the nerdgasm.
Take that Crystalline Entity!Take that Doomsday Machine!
Take that Crystalline Entity!Take that Doomsday Machine!can't wait.
