i think people against the approach of next gen consoles are convinced that the companies will make the same mistakes they will in the past and dont see what next gen consoles really are; a way to improve upon their last gen; not just improve graphics.
the article touched upon few games really taking advantage of everything the PS3 can provide like uncharted 2; but game companies obviously dont want their games to look bad, a new playstation could be designed to make it easier for developers to make their games look better. a new console could make games take way less man hours to make...
it seems like most of the people responding in this thread are just scared of change... scared at what the future of gaming will be and want to preserve this generation because they know they like it and dont want to lose it.Posted: February 18, 2010 8:50 PM | Reply | Report -

Good list but reason #2, that really only applies to the PS3. I dont think your gona find Uncharted 2 graphics on the Wii or 360 anytime soon (ever).

normally I think sessler's a prick but he makes some good points we definitely don't need a new console. I mean look at the games we play now the I don't think you can make the graphics any better and nobody I can't afford a new console I'm gamer on a budget. Its bad enough games are like $60 but it would probably cost like $500 for a new console.

Wow this video seems super buggy for me. I've tried on Chrome, Firefox, and IE and the video starts and at random times in the video it leaps to an advertisement then starts the Valve video with Abby. While I love Abby (and I do) I'd be ever so happy to see the top 2 reasons that I've missed over 10 times now trying to watch this video. Nerd rage. ( =

The PC Game market will be far ahead of everyone else by the time "we're ready for a new console". People need to stop looking at PCs as an expensive gaming machine. Start looking at the PC as everything you need your computer for (school, facebook, pron) plus as an added bonus you'll spend a little extra for gaming. Console games definitely have a huge chunk of the gaming market, to put it lightly. However, when you really consider the upgradability of a PC plus the wider selection of games (since you can configure the setting the how you want to or need to run it) it is probably best to play games on the PC.

Personally, I'm waiting for PS4 to come out, that way I can play PS3 games backward compatable...., I'm in no rush to play a game because it just came out, I'm 5 years behind game releases.
But this is definetly valid, they are still learning how to utilize systems like PS3, starting another system when certain current ones are largely untapped is just dumb, and than they just do it again. Personally, I think they should be looking along the lines of add ons if they want to enhance gameplay, but most of all, the industry should focus on making good games instead of how much better the graphics are going to be on the next console, honestly, good gaming has alot less to do with graphic processing than people imagine, just look at Zelda games and Okami. -

New consoles aren't needed right now, except for Microsoft. A 54% failure rate is appalling and insulting.
