Mr.Sessler, i absolutely agree with you. The fact of the matter is people have to deal with discrimination everyday, but gaming does not need to be a continuation of those feelings. I play games to relief stress, and i turn off my mic so i don't have to listen to people be well just rude and offensive. Xbox Live or any online way of gaming should be fun. Infinity Ward made a huge mistake and they should have know better. Hate speech may be legal and defended to a degree by the First Amendment but that in no way make it socially acceptable. I hope gamers can just have fun online- insult someone ability to play not who they may or may not be.

Personally I just can't stand the 13 year old kids with their annoying cracky voice say anything at all, it just makes me wanna punch these kids in the face.

This video is REEEEDONKULOUS. Constitution FTW!!!!!!

Im just so sick and tired of all this political correctness in America. I mean, its so bad now we cant even say Merry Christmas anymore because its "offensive", we gotta say Happy Holidays which is gay. (oops there it is)

Kids cant even say the pledge of allegiance in school anymore because apparently THAT'S offensive too. Not to even mention the word God, which could get a kid expelled :0

America is dying because of this kind of petty BS.

I mean, its ok to play a game where you basically perform murder after murder but just saying a word, no matter the context, is apparently worse than the acts of murder being done in the game. LOL, what a joke. Its like, what is this, Russia? Seriously. Wow, just wow.

The very thing (1st amendment) that enables Sessler to say what he just said in this video, is the same exact thing that enables Infinity Ward to use that word. And the point is, the ad wasnt talking about anyone in specific, they didnt call you that, or me that.

I mean, its just sad for America that Infinity Ward even felt that they had to take the ad away... Its pathetic really.

I got something to tell you Mr. Sessler. There is something called "Free Speech".Anyone can say anything they want no matter what you say.

It doesn't MATTER if it was intentional or not the point is it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and defeats the purpose of the ad in the first place.

What I see a lot of people overlooking is the fact that people don't seem to realize that many homosexuals take offense to this word. We are looking at a word that was famously used in a hateful connotation towards homosexuals. Now certain areas of pop culture have used the word and made it seem like we can simply toss aside the old meaning and use it as a fun joke now. The use of this word was used for anyone who seemed to express any sort of homosexual tendencies. Now people use it blatantly with their friends as a funny insult. What this implies is that being homosexual is bad and is not socially accepted. Is that the message we want to give youth who are struggling with their sexuality?

The fact is this word is harmful to many people. I have heard dozens of little kids on Xbox Live use this word because they think it's cool. The fact is it's not funny, it's not cool, it's just racist. The intent of that word was to make a certain group of people feel bad about who they are. And just because a lot of people use it does not make it okay to throw it around casually. It is a hateful word, and the use of it as is only demeans the people offended by it more. Try and put yourselves in the shoes of someone who has been discriminated against, and begins hearing this word.

    Great job Sessler.

I sat here for an hour trying to think of some way to convey my feelings on this...and all I can really think to say is this: STOP overreacting, and start focusing on calling out the people who are using these words in intentionally hurtful ways. And I don't just mean about 'gay hate'.
The thing about hate-speech is that if you eliminate all the people who use the word harmlessly (albeit perhaps ignorantly), it doesn't stop the real hatemongers from spouting it...and honestly, at the end of the day, even if we did eliminate *that word*, they would just find another one to use that would become equally harmful.
When it's all said and done, the emperor being naked is the real issue.
The hate is the problem...and sadly, I don't think we're any closer to sitting around a fire and singing kumbaiah than we were ten, twenty years ago. So I guess what I'm saying is, we shouldn't give ONE WORD such power by going crazy about it.
Someone's less likely to listen to someone explain their hate with a ten-minute speech than getting the whole impetus of hate in one four-letter word.

I, for one, as a black person, get my fair share of racial slurs thrown at me. I also have a gay friend and he, assuming he saw the video, would probably be very offended by it. I don't get offended when its someone I know, and I call my gay friend a you-know-what jokingly, but to come from such a major company as Infinity Ward, who should be stopping this or avoiding this altogther, I am ashamed of them. I'll still play MW2, as it didn't offend me personally, but some gay people may be put off. Not good for IW.

I can't pretend to be offended. I thought the Film Actors Guild in Team America was worth a chuckle

it was a funny video. i laughed pretty hard at it. if you think it was more than a joke you are just being difficult. People stop trying to defend every race, creed, and religion and just let it be what it is.

I'm quite disappointed in you, Adam. I thought you would discuss a much more important issue: Infinity Ward screwing over PC gamers.

You know I really hate it when people take the word F*G and put it on par with other racial slurs like the N-word. Society over hypes that word to the point where its going to be a common word. When people choose to accept the word for the context of its meaning rather than the actual definition than slowly it will die out. And by the way would like to point out that people have a right to be gay because its a choice just like religion. You aren't given a choice to be Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, etc. you're born and stuck with it for the rest of your life. That is why the n-word had much more impact on African Americans because they weren't given a choice. In no way am I justifying the use of the word I'm just saying that's in no way shape or form is it the same or even worse than racial slurs because its in a completely different category. The more society realizes this the less likely the word will be used in that context. That's just my two cents on the issue. As far as InfinityWard is concerned. Who cares? they made a mistake, they admitted it, nobody's perfect, MOVE ON.

Adam, let me start by saying I am a straight man. That said, I fully support your outrage. I used to fully enjoy playing on XBOX live, it was the reason I bought many of my games early on. As you note here, over the years this kind of language has become more and more prevalent as people become more comfortable behind the anonymity that live offers.

I am a trash talker and do enjoy a good zing during a game, heck it adds to the game. There's nothing better than to take down a guy who has been trash talking you the whole round. There's no reason to bring race/gender/creed/sexual preference into the game. If someone is terrible at the game and you feel like lording over them, by all means insult their skill; just leave it at that.

Sess, I'm fine with taking IW to task on this issue, but FFS YOU HAVE DROPPED THE BALL ON OTHER ISSUES! As I opened the video, I was hoping you were going to finally throw IW under the bus for crapping all over PC gamers and actually tell people it's ok to criticize Infinity Ward. It's apparent you can give a flying you know what about other gamers. You tell us you "respect all platforms" but apparently your so busy living in denial about IW's garbage and Activision's "deflowering" of gaming you won't speak about it.Not everyone is an Xbox gamer, nor do they want to be.You may think there is nothing harmful about displaying your games on 360, but it gives FREE ADVERTISING to MS. You have had AMPLE opportunities to bring such issues up and you have failed. You are an intelligent person and (if I believe correctly, progressive) enough person to realize Activision skimping on quality for the sake of a quick buck. Sure all gaming is a business, but since did that justify ripping people off? Good critique on the pulled ad, but Sesssler, you can do more than just that. Stand up for gamers instead of just being selective on the issues you discuss.

I think people need to step back and look at the context of the word " ag$" now-a-days.
I am the furthest you can be from a racist in any form and even I slip the word from time to time.
I think words can be bent in their meaning over time, and I dont see " ag$" as a racist term anymore.
Its only racist when the intent is there. And that is the only time. People need to just grow up and not overreact to all this politically incorrect crap we see every day. But then again, I didn't grow up in the southern states and maybe my opinion would be different if I was more often surrounded by racism.
