and also if someone doesn't like this video, they'll be annoyed and forget about it shorty afterward. Whereas for me, this video made my day!

Thank you Adam for helping me feel welcome in the video game community that I have been a part of for most of my life. We've been ignored and insulted in video games but I'VE never turned my back on the gaming world... it is also part of who I am! Thanks for your support!

You know Adam I've always been right there with you on all your subjects, but man on this one gotta say I could not disagree more. I really don't think infinity ward intended for the word on trial to appear in the video. I personally believe it was one of those "slip ups" you mentioned in the video, and yes sometimes it can happen. This video could've been made by a condensed group of people, and hadn't noticed this, um offense let's call it. One of the main problems is that people are seeing this all as negativity, I being a theater major know a lot of gay people who use the word on trial, not as a term of endearment, but almost as their dude, and when this happens I find the only people offended are straight people. One of the main problems is taking offense to it, if you take offense that make the word an offensive word. However, if you take no offense to it, it then just becomes a word. Words can be bad in two senses, they offend or you have to say they're bad because they offend, either way your still making the word offensive. In the end thats all they are is words, and the only way you can stop hate with words is not to stop the words, because that would be unconstitutional, but to stop the meaning of the words, because then its just another line in the dictionary.

The Acronym was unnecessary but Random Grenade throwers need to suck one and I'm pretty sure Infinity knew exactly what they were doing...They seem stupid not to think people wouldn't make a big deal about it...It doesn't really matter in the long run because it only gives them more media and people would not boycott this game for anything....I just don't understand why they could make acronym for FRAGS like Frequent Random Acts of Grenade Spam, or something more clever.

Trust me, I"ve pissed off more racist 12 year olds this way than yelling at them. If everyone turns them off, they have no voice and they're just talking into an empty mic.

As the saying goes, If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around...Does it make a sound?

Same principal. Get everyone to mute them. Problem solved.

interesting... i have to agree with the fact that it was a sort of bad move, as far as the word used in a 'public notice'... actually, i think that's the only part that bothers me about it, is that it was sent as a sort of public announcement... sure, the content WITHIN the game is rated M... and it IS to be expected that foul language, murder, stealing, and terrorism will be a large part of the game. but, potentially hundreds of thousands of people saw this 'public announcement', and probably many among them are homosexual...

i see a lot of free speech this, grow up that, and i don't think it has anything to do with our ability to handle the vulgarity, or the insult attributed to the word... i think it's more about who said it... and where it came from...

for instance, if the president of the united states of america, at this time, sent out a public announcement that insulted a minority... we'd be VERY UPSET at him... however, if some random american citizen insults a minority, in private, noone really cares... although they both have the right to free speech, there's an enormous difference.

i think it was rather careless on the side of IW to think that it would be ok to post such a thing publicly.... especially with so much media attention surrounding them, but i'll still happily play MW:2...

...Really? Acronyms are getting everybody all wound up these days?

I agree fully that no one should be held down for race/creed/sexual preference, but this PC freak-out is just silly. There are bigger, more harmful things going on in the world, yet something like this breeds more outrage. I mean, really doesn't putting a bar on these words just create more awkward feelings toward the people it once described. The fact that a taboo over these slurs still exists means that no past oppression is forgiven. Stop giving these words power.

Adam, I honestly agree with your position that no one should ever mock or criticize another persons beliefs, sexual orientation, ideals, ect.. It doesn't do anyone any good. However, I feel that some people need to learn how to ignore the thoughtless and unfounded things others may say, and accept them as just meaningless words.

My brother is mentally retarded, so whenever someone calls someone else a "retard" I could let it get to me and be angry. I simply choose to be the bigger person and just let it go; it's horrible and offensive but I honestly don't care what those ignorant people say. I too agree that you are acting as somewhat of a hypocrite here Adam. In a video meant to encourage "political correctness" you dish out plenty of profane words that are just as offensive to some as the use of the "other f-word" you so vehemently oppose, so if you're want others to clean up there act, take care of yourself first. Let's just all be the bigger person and make our gaming experience the best we can by being mature about things like this.

Sometimes it is important to know what you are in for, for example if I turn on my TV and change it to the Martha Stuart Show I would expect to see something about cooking and what do you know! There it is, cooking and curtains, just what I expected. Now when I turn on my 360, put in my copy of modern warefare 2, and plug my mic in, I know what I'm in for. People siting on their couch, controller in hand, chips in the other , and mic that provids a link to the GREATEST TRASH TALKING in the world, no holds, no bars. I know what I am doing. My gamer zone is set to underground, meaning that you know what I am about as far as gaming goes and there is a shiny M on the game that I got.I WANT to shoot people, I WANT to trash talk, I ESPECIALLY WANT MW2. Know why? Now I know that Infinity Ward gets me! Their so-called "slur" is simply their little way of saying they get it! They KNOW their buyers or at least they should be able too... so long as "mommy" doesn't get 5 year-old Timmy the Game with the BIG SHINY M!!!!!! ITs right there!!!! That means your mature enough to pla the Game and handle EVERYTHING that comes with it, including stupid pathetic SLURS!!!. Even if that means giving crap to the gay community.

Now as for Sessler, Adam my respected man of the gaming universe, so many words of wisdom you have spoken over the years, whether it be reviews, consoles, or your soapbox series. You are right in what you say 9 out of 10 times. Well I guess you are due for the 1 out of 10 when you are wrong. Don't openly curse in a video about being politically correct x). Thats like saying you admire the special olymics but then when you friend does something stupid you call him a retard. DON'T CONTRADICT YOURSELF =).

I also salute the statements put forth by kruz8er and master_peterm, well put there gentlemen. I highly agree with what you say.

i don't think the video was meant to be offensive, but it is sad that it spelled what it spelled. i think what younger ppl need to understand that the word itself is not meant to describe some one stupid or dumb, but something so much more controversial. It pains me to hear ppl just throw this word around like its common speech.

I think when people say words like F word(the gay slang term) are unacceptable, it just gives them more power. I didn't laugh at the joke and thought it was immature, but I didn't find it unacceptable or offensive either. True, I would have been more offended if the analogy was something to do with the N word. Because the N word is so off limits, it hurts when it is said. Words shouldn't hurt, period. And where do we draw the line when we say certain words are unacceptable? Is a word like, retard unacceptable? By your logic it is. How about if I insulted someone about their male impotency(I am bound to do this) there are people with impotency problems, shouldn't they be off limits? Its not their fault just like being gay, black, or special is anybodies fault. Or we could go even further and outlaw nerd and geek, which admittedly, would save me some distress since I fall into that category. I just think that if you are going to protect one group, you have to protect them all, and no way can you do that. So everyone sit back and relax, lets desensitize hate words, sticks and stones may break my bones, but I wont ever let slang terms hurt me.

Ive personally been very happy with being able 2 stay in party chat with friends on xboxlive during multyplayer games. It's nice to be able to avoid the hate mongoring from people. But , OH NO! Whats this i hear that infinity ward is making it so that you cant be in a private party during a multyplayer session. It's obvious buy there carelesness that they themselves are amongst the peabrained children who give no thought 2 what comes out of there mouths.

I have definitely gotten really tired of people online constantly saying stuff like that but they do have a right to. Whether or not (definitely not) they should is very different but you can't say that Infinity Ward should try to police it or do anything of the sort. Not only will it be useless but it would also go against part of the constitution. The FCC already does enough censoring as it is and the last thing we need is more restrictions against our rights.
