Let's make a note of this, this can and may well be the unreal engine killer the only question is can the developers truly take advantage of the engine itself. when unreal engine 3 came out we were all shocked and awed by the beauty and options it could potentially give the next generation of games. and at first we saw a few great uses of it but as time grows on we are seeing the name Unreal tagged on more and more games that dont actually have pretty graphics or decent gameplay,ive seen XBLA games that claim to run on unreal that arent any good.at the same time we've also seen some amazing feats from these engines and the developers that use them like in bioshock, mass effect,mirror's edge and every rainbow six since the year 2000.Cry engine is the future of graphics engines unless Epic can persuade me further. my only question is can the developers actually use the engine to its fullest instead using the name to get some extra publicity or sales.
Please note: i am not trying to diss Epic or unreal engine3 most of my games use it and I love Epic -

Bungie cant do a character with more than 10 polygone and ODST proved it so dont ask them to use cryengine 3 , its too much for them.

far cry 2 was a great game a little repetitive but, the technology makes the world go round and gives creative growth. Future artists WILL use this technology. physics where good on this engine. THE question IS how long will it take to make games on this?? many strong graphic games are taking a ton of time to get out. Uncharted 2 is PS3 cash cow and they definately delievered... and their was definately I lot of people on it. If you guys want insane graphics computers are the way to go. but, I'd rather buy a motorcycle or put money in a roth IRA than spend $5,000 on a monitor and computer combo. Love the GAMES and "Shut Up and Frag"

Looks great, but I'm more concerned about how it will be applied and how feasible it will be, graphics comes second to physics toward my interest, and if it is beyond use, than... wow, it's real pretty.

yeah... it looks beautiful... but when have they ever made a good game with that engine?.... SURE... Crysis made my eyes bleed because it was so beautiful... but.. it wasn't that great of a game. Farcry wasn't that good either... so.. good luck with that engine.

This is pointless. How many developers made games on CryEngine 2? 2 right? And soon one MMO.
This is pointless and everybody know that. Consoles have power for demonstration, but they just don't have power to run a game.
I want Naughty Dog to take that engine and make Uncharted 3 with it... Maybe TimeSplitters 4 will be on Cryengine 3 but who knows... -

This will be great for PC players, but i really can't see something that advanced running on a 360, it simply doesn't have the processing needed in order to make that run at a good FPS, It'll probably be saved for next gen consoles or some upgrade. PC gamers have the advantage for this type of rapid next gen releasing, Can't wait to gen my hands on a game running this engine!

I saw that they tested this engine on the playstation 3 and xbox 360, is there gonna be some kind of update on the consoles? or are they coming when teh new consoles will come?

When it states Next Gen, more than likely it is rendered on a PC, with specifications that they predict are going to be similar to the next generation of consoles. Crytek Engine 3 will look absolutely amazing on PC's, blowing consoles out of the water, yet again.

Thank you Cryteck for the dedicated time and effort. As I'm sure there were many sleepless nights to achieve this. Looks great. Also I'm looking foreword to the Unreal Engine (among others) to provide an update in features or a new engine all together. This is defiantly and exciting time to apart of this entertainment media.
