Your Childhood Sucks: Final Fantasy VII
In this edition of Your Childhood Sucks, we try and convince you that, ultimately, 'Final Fantasy VII' kind of sucked...really, believe us. It did.

Does one guy's opinion really matter to you all that much? If you love the game, then that's all that should matter and stop getting butt-hurt over Adam's opinion. I happen to like FFVII, but it is by no means the "best game ever".

It truly has not aged well, but the game is 12 years old, not to mention a PS1 title, so that is to be expected. No, Adam does not like FFVII....heck, almost all FF games he hates. As much as I love FFVII and would have liked to see a remake...at this point I am sick of the fricking game. There is so much stuff out for it now it's overkill. How about a Chrono Trigger remake, Xenogears or FFVI.

To conclude, stop complaining about some guy's opinion and just worry about what you yourself think of any said game.

yep they are right FFVII is way overhyped and to everyone saying they are wrong no they are right it is overhyped. the game isn't bad for when it was made but now they are tons of RPGs that surpass this game immensly that have little to no hype at all. and as for the graphics yea they were okay for the time I guess, but seriously people don't even say hardware limitation because the PS1 proved how much more powerful it is with FFVIII and FFIX.

FFVII was alright and everyone always bragged about it so damn much when I was in 7th grade. I mean it was like a religion to some people but personally I never liked it too much at all. Needless to say I spent most of that year eating lunch alone but I wasn't going to bend my opinion there, I just didn't have fun with it. Storywise it was somewhat alright but I kind of had some troubles with it, it would be compelling at some points but then after the cutscenes were over I dreaded playing the normal game as I knew it would drag out until the next cutscene. I'll admit I was a little pissed when Aries died, not at Sephiroth but at the fact she was my main healer and everyone else suffered without her. So it was more of a death of inconvenience for me. My favorite FF game was Final Fantasy VIII I loved that game and still play it when I get the chance. I really think that game is so overlooked because of gaining access to the summons early....people get over it. Within time and your leveling up they become little to useless. People always complain about VIII because it's not as good as VII where in reality it's almost better and the story is more interesting. I couldn't put VII down. I'd play it for hours and still want to keep going even if I knew I was going to get detention for being late to school...which I still don't get as being tardy isn't exactly a dire thing. If I came in and beat the crap out of someone I could understand that but missing home room? We didn't even do a thing there....oh well I guess the pledge but at my school no one even stood up for it, in fact the teacher read his paper in the morning and the kids talked to themselves. I think I was the only one that stood that year, eh force of habit I guess.

...getting off topic there, sorry about that. Years later and after seeing Advent Children I did get somewhat interested in VII so I did pop it on my PSP and played it through....that game stayed on my memorystick for about oh a week. Still have VIII on my PSP since last Fall. Needless to say here's how I see it. Go get the movie because AC was great even with missing scenes, play the PS1 game if you have nothing better to do. The buy the follow up Dirge if your looking for some false hope. I did like dirge if only they made it better. Like if you jump over an enemy and they shoot forward you shouldn't get hit but the bullets must be mini-homing bullets I guess. Sometimes when your to the enemies back you still get hit with confounds me to no end. Now I did like Crisis Core but it kinda got stale when you could do all the missions basically when your uncovering what happened to your partner at his home village...I forgot his name but he's the original owner of the Buster Sword, his family gave it to him as a gift I believe. See even though I only played it for 1 week when it came out I still vaguely remember the story, I can't remember anything about VII except that Vince was in the basement.

In my point of view FFVII is alright, not the best but not the worst either. Still not enough to keep you playing it for hours. If they ever remake it, work on the battle system, I don't even care about graphics...well that's not true I liked how in VIII the models for battle, and walking looked identical to the cut-scenes down to Squall's scar. As far as the enemies....well all FF games have odd looking ones with the exception of a Dragon or Dinosaur. In their cases they just have oddly specific names...so much that they might have been better as a "Dragon or Dinosaur".
