Warhammer (and 40k) has been around since like '82, '83 ish. Blizzard (makers of Starcraft/Warcraft) tried to buy out Games Workshop (creators of the Warhammer universe). When GW refused, Blizzard decided to make their own Warhammer rip-off (both are still awesome games) and made Warcraft and starcraft. The Terrans are basically Space Marines, and the Zerg are Tyrannids.
Hope that helps.
