Palm Treo Pro Review

Chris Hardwick is here to review the sexy new Palm Treo, another in the newest line of handheld devices that are likely to spice up the way you talk on the phone and get information in your life.

What You Need to Know

  • In design, this is a huge improvement over the older Treos
  • Even though it's thin and light, it has a good feel and fits easily in your pocket
  • 30% smaller than the Treo 800
  • Overall, this is the sleekest Palm device we've seen
  • The keyboard keys are still small, but it feels easier to type on
  • Screen size is 2.5"
  • Includes a stylus for you die-hard Palm users; we'd rather they made all the icons bigger
  • As far as the Windows Mobile operating system goes, setting anything up like Wi-Fi is a pain, because there are too many steps
  • There's a general lag throughout the entire system, which seems to be a "feature" of Windows Mobile on any phone
  • The web experience isn't complete, but it's not bad either; it just feels a little clunky
  • On the plus side, you can do virtually anything with Microsoft documents like Word, Excel, etc.
  • The 2 megapixel camera is average, but it does take video
  • The GPS is unique, because you can download and cache satellite information so that other GPS apps can get your location faster
  • Stereo Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi and 3G
  • Micro SD up to 32GB
  • This is perfect for other Treo users or business-minded people
  • For anyone else, it might be too much to handle

  • It's not on any carriers yet, so you have to buy it unlocked for a little over $500
  • It's really expensive, but hopefully the contract price will be way lower
