Creative Vado Camcorder

On today's Gadget Pr0n, we talk about a hot little toy that slips neatly in your pocket... it's the Creative Vado Camcorder.

What You Need to Know

  • It's about as thin as an iPhone and weighs very little
  • Rubber cover makes it pretty rugged and it doesn't seem easily broken
  • 2” LCD could be larger
  • Slides in your pocket and starts up quick so you always have it ready
  • The minimal amount of buttons make it easy to use
  • Big white center button records
  • Directional pad zooms or adjusts volume
  • Play button changes to playback mode
  • Hitting both the delete and playback buttons gets you into the menu
  • You don't need to be tech-savvy to use it
  • It's got built-in software that uploads directly to YouTube or Photobucket, but it only works with Windows
  • You just need to install an Xvid codec from the camera, and you're all set to upload; the application is really easy to use
  • Other cameras like the flip allow you to do minor editing with their software, but this one is basic
  • You can also drag and drop, which is what you'll have to do if you're on a Mac
  • Colors are a bit washed out
  • Indoor lighting turns out pretty good, outdoor looks great
  • Shoots at 640x480 at its highest which isn't that high
  • You can look at a few sample videos on our Attack of the Show YouTube Channel
  • 2 GB of storage and YouTube uploading make this easy and fun to use
  • However, video quality and lack of features leave something to be desired
