Asus M70 Laptop

We quiver for the new Asus M70 laptop, and celebrate its terabyte of space and internal Blu-Ray drive, along the way.

Here is the written review from today's Attack of the Show:

What You Need to Know

  • It's only 1.5” thick even though it has a 17” full-HD display, weighs about 9 lbs.
  • Glossy black and gray case keeps a low profile
  • Lots of room on the keyboard
  • The mouse pad has the fingerprint reader between the right and left click, which is annoying sometimes
  • 1920x1200 resolution and Asus’ splendid video adjusts video settings according to which application you're using; basically it looks incredible
  • The Altec Lansing speakers give excellent stereo sound
  • The touch pad turns into a media control panel which allows you to control the Blu-ray player and launch applications
  • HDMI out
  • E-Sata for storage
  • AV in
  • SPIDIF out, card reader, Firewire
  • It has 4 gigs of RAM, but 32-bit Vista can only use 3
  • ATI Radeon HD 3650 works pretty good for gaming
  • A terabyte of storage is practically unheard of which makes this one of the ultimate multimedia laptops
  • Surprisingly it scored a few points lower in our PC Mark-Vantage tests than the Toshiba A-305 we reviewed a few weeks ago
  • The multimedia capabilities along with the HDMI out make this an excellent entertainment computer; it's got everything you'd need to watch all kinds of media.

  • $2400
