Hangar 18 HD Media Server

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
  • Up to 4 gigs of DDR3 memory (should be up to 8)
  • ATI sapphire HD-2400-x-t graphics card with 1080p output
  • 4 terabytes of storage
  • Gateway 30 inch monitor not included
  • It's got up to 4 TV tuners
  • 2 cable card slots
  • 7.1 audio out
  • DVI, VGA, and S-video out
  • E-Sata inputs for extra storage
  • Rack-mountable
  • It could use a few HDMI inputs
  • Basically you can get rid of your cable box, TiVo, and DVD player. You might need an audio receiver
  • Blu-ray burner
  • 4 terabytes of storage in Raid 5 configuration
  • These are hot swappable so you can record thousands of movies and shows
  • It's still very PC minded
  • You have to know how to use Vista
  • But Windows Media Center has gotten pretty easy to use
  • It shows you your TV schedule, what you've recorded, plus all the internet TV content included from MSN
  • You can watch a bunch of trailers like 21 from Columbia Pictures out now and Wall-E from Disney, coming to theaters June 27
  • I like having my computer and TVas separate devices, so I’m not entirely convinced
  • If you are a pc person and sick of controlling a bunch of things, this is a great alternative, for a wealthy turbo-nerd
  • Starts at $5000
