The Loop: Wireless Spectrum Auction

The FCC auction for the 700MHz spectrum has concluded and, not surprisingly, AT&T and Verizon have managed to come away with the largest (but not only) chunk. It would seem that AT&T has once again come out on top in the struggle for mobile dominance.

However, some are arguing that by not placing winning bids, competitors such as Google have actually gone a long way toward winning the cellular wars (it’s likely that, alongside Microsoft, the company will use white space for wireless transmissions). So, who's the real winner in the FCC's wireless spectrum auction?

To answer that question, we’ll welcome Editor for Silicon Alley Insider, Dan Frommer.
